Many rumors about the theft of this statue

In 1988, the stunning white marble statue sculpted by Mladen Mikulin, representing the bust of the artist Jim Morrison, mysteriously disappeared from the Père-Lachaise cemetery. It had been decorating the Doors singer's grave for seven years, having been placed there in 1981 to mark the 10th anniversary of his death. Rumors suggested that an almost obsessive fan might have taken the statue, but there were no clues to confirm this theory.

An Andy Warhol artwork and three luxury watches have also been found

In May 2025, however, this story takes a different turn. A police raid allowed for the recovery of that famous bust which hadn’t been seen for a long 37 years. “It’s a chance discovery during a search related to a fraud case,” stated the Paris Prosecutor's Office.

While the exact location of the discovery has not been specified, photos of the statue have been published, showing significant damage: breaks at the nose and mouth, graffiti… According to information from Liberation,

ank">Libération, an Andy Warhol painting as well as three luxury Rolex watches were also found during this search. Will the statue of Jim Morrison regain its original place on the singer's grave? At this moment, the question has not yet been resolved.
