All reasons are good to make the distinction between these two generations. On one side, the millennials (or Generation Y), born in the 80s-90s. On the other, Gen Z, born between 2000 and 2010. And one thing is for sure, to find the slightest difference between the two, their members are observed... From head to toe! Show me your socks, and I'll tell you who you are It all starts in late 2023, on TikTok, when an Australian Pilates teacher makes a rather striking observation: the height of your socks says much more than you think about the generation you belong to. And in this style war, two teams are clearly opposed.
@phoebe_fitish This is exactly how to tell the difference between a millennial and gen z just by looking at their feet #millennial #genz ♬ original sound - phoebe_fitish

On one side, high socks enthusiasts, mid-calf. Often sporty-looking socks that proudly stand out between the sneaker and the shorts. If you're a fan of this kind of style, congratulations, you are part of Gen Z. On the other hand, the consumers of ankle socks. These small low-cut socks, sometimes as big as a handkerchief, where not a single thread sticks out of the shoe. If for you, showing your socks is like mixing more than 3 colors, an aberration, then there's no doubt, you are a millennial!

A very serious study...

That was all it took to ignite the internet, and videos on the subject began to multiply at lightning speed, often with proof to back it up. Jennifer Lawrence vs. Billie Eilish, Gen Z vs. Millennials, the debate is on!

Lindsay Lohan against Olivia Rodrigo, each one sharing their little photos to establish this general truth... Which is obviously just a slightly extreme twist of a trend.

No matter when you were born, you can wear any socks you like, however you like. If you choose pink socks with sparkly hearts that go above the knee, that's awesome! Just know that if you iron them, it's a dead giveaway that you're from the Baby Boom generation and probably hitting the amazing age of 70 years old. Go ahead and rock those socks, you fabulous individual!
