Great news: the Catalan capital often enjoys almost summertime weather even in winter, so there's no reason not to soak up a good dose of vitamin D. Ready to explore a different, vibrant, and alternative Barcelona? Follow us!

4 great places to sleep

To experience Barcelona like a savvy local, we’re all about hotels that blend style, comfort, and the perfect location. Here are three tried-and-true spots for your Catalan getaways.

1. Casa Bonay

A gem of a hotel nestled in a modernist building in Eixample. Casa Bonay is more than just a place to drop your bags: it's a vibrant urban hub where you could easily spend the whole day without ever venturing out, but that would be a shame, right? Their café, Satan’s Coffee Corner, roasts exceptional beans on-site, while the bar Libertine is perfect for sipping cocktails while listening to DJ sets, transforming into a grand buffet in the morning. The rooms are decorated with style...

elegance, mixed vintage furniture, artisanal details, and ultimate comfort. A special mention for the green terrace with a pool, perfect for a sunny breakfast or a peaceful drink with a view of the rooftops of Barcelona.

2. Borneta

The little newcomer that's already a must-visit, Hotel Borneta is bursting with charm and perfectly located right in the heart of the bohemian El Born neighborhood. Behind its discreet facade, you'll discover a boutique hotel designed to feel like a cozy home: bright rooms with ultra-comfortable bedding, modern marble bathrooms, and decor touches inspired by Scandinavian design. Some even feature a double terrace, making you feel like you're staying in a true countryside house. The highlight? The attention to detail, with eco-friendly bath products and communal areas that are perfect for relaxing between visits. Another must-try: the restaurant where you can enjoy a hearty breakfast thanks to a deliciously complete buffet in the morning, but also taste daring sharing plates in the evening like crispy oysters, a revamped osso buco, or a...absolutely mouthwatering butternut carpaccio! And just a short walk away, the streets of El Born are filled with tapas bars, art galleries, and independent shops to continue the local experience. Oh, I almost forgot about the rooftop with its stunning pool—simply sublime!

5. Get lost in the alleys of El Raval

What about the beach?

Yes, the beach in Barcelona in November and December is totally possible! We recommend wandering a bit away from Barceloneta (which is often crowded) to explore some of the calmer beaches. Head over to Playa de Bogatell, perfect for a chill, family-friendly vibe, or venture to Playa de la Nova Icària, with its calm waters ideal for a relaxing swim if you’re brave enough to jump into the 16°C water. For an even more peaceful setting, take some time to reach Playa de Llevant, the least crowded beach in the city. It’s the perfect alternative for a serene moment by the Mediterranean.
