It’s definitely one of the most famous and accessible volcanoes in Europe! Mount Vesuvius is located in the Gulf of Naples and is currently "asleep." This means you're likely to feel warm ground and see small gas emissions there. You can visit for free via an easy hiking trail or join a guided tour for about €145. The best time to visit is between March and May and from September to November.

Kilauea, Hawaii
On the other side of the planet, the volcano Kilauea stands out as one of the wonders of the world. Considered to be one of the most active volcanoes in the world, there's a good chance you'll spot some lava. In fact, its last eruption was in 2024. Access costs €14 if you decide to go on your own, or €230 for a guided tour. The best time to visit is between June and September.

Eyjafjallajökull, Iceland
This is another European volcano that is “asleep.” Eyjafjallajökull is a must-visit for all adventure enthusiasts. Even though its last eruption was in 2010, the volcano is still active and boasts stunning ice-covered slopes along with breathtaking views. The summer, from June to September, seems to be the best time to visit. The excursion is free, but it is classified as difficult.

Piton de la Fournaise, La Réunion
Back in France, but this time in the DOM-TOM! Piton de la Fournaise is also considered one of the most active volcanoes in the world. It's not uncommon to spot lava flows or even feel the heat radiating from it. You can hike up for free on your own, or join a guided tour for about 67€. Just a heads up, the difficulty level of this hike is considered medium.
