A true revolution is about to happen in the aviation world very soon! By 2027, the Australian airline Qantas plans to break all records by launching the longest flight in the world with its « Project Sunrise ». The goal? To offer a non-stop flight lasting 22 hours

Australia, the United States, and Europe connected in just 20 hours

The big question: which cities will be connected by this new flight? We already had a feeling Australia would definitely be involved, and we were right! Two flights will actually be operated, linking Sydney to London, but also to New York. The distances for these journeys are 16,983 and 15,988 kilometers respectively, and they will be completed in 22 hours without any stop for refueling. Currently, the record for the longest non-stop flight is held by New York-Singapore — a distance of 15,300 kilometers covered in about 19 hours.

A plane rich in new features and modernity

This ambitious project is made possible by the installation of an additional 20,000 liters tank on an all-new aircraft: the Airbus A350-1000ULR. This will be combined with Rolls engines.

-Royce Trent, particularly powerful and capable of keeping the aircraft in the air for over 20 hours.

238 passengers distributed across four classes will be welcomed inside the plane. This is a reduced number compared to traditional aircraft, allowing for ensuring a certain level of comfort for travelers throughout the flight. As the airline claims, the well-being of passengers will be the absolute priority: stretching programs will be broadcast, handholds will be installed for specific exercises, and snacks will be offered in a self-service manner.
