When you book a weekend in Rome, you usually know what to expect. Ice cream, pastas, and pizzas that will make your head spin, art and amazing monuments on every street corner, and weather that will make all your friends back in France green with envy. Then there’s the Colosseum, the Sistine Chapel, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, the Borghese Gallery… In short, all these places you must see at least once in your life, or even two or three times, just for the fun of it!

Anyway, we never get tired of going back again and again, always on the lookout for new spots that will steal our hearts. And after a few romantic weekends wandering through the streets of Trastevere and watching the sunset from the heights of Piazza di Spagna, you could almost say that the true city of love might very well be Rome (sorry to the pure Parisian folks). So here’s a little tour of the…

For a 5-Star Sleep

Art’otel Rome: Design in Freedom

Just steps away from Villa Borghese, you can drop your bags at the vibrant Art’otel, a place with a pop aesthetic and free-flowing curves, designed as a living tribute to contemporary art. From the moment you enter the lobby, zesty colors and stylish pieces set the tone, all signed by the artist Pietro Ruffo, and you’ll find yourself marveling at every corner like a museum under a roof. The rooms, true arty capsules, combine sleek lines, wall art, and breathtaking views of the rooftops. Special mention goes to the attentive service and the gallery in the basement that you can visit for free. The cherry on top of the tiramisu: the bikes available for you to zoom off with the wind in your hair straight to the Pantheon.

Six Senses Rome: the wellness temple

It’s undoubtedly one of the most incredible places in Rome. Stepping through the doors of Six Senses feels like entering a serene bubble carved from stone. The hotel, located in a former palace just steps from the Trevi Fountain, is a true gem where every detail is carefully considered.A spectacular spa inspired by Roman baths, citrus scents wafting down the halls, soft lighting, and luxurious materials at every turn… everything exudes tranquility. You could easily spend hours, days, or even weeks here, between the tepidarium and frigidarium, wrapped in silence and the essential oil of neroli. As evening falls, you head up to the rooftop Not.

Snacks on incredible tomato montanare, basil leaves, and pine nuts while watching the sun set the rooftops ablaze: the moment is perfect. And don't miss out on the breakfast, which is one of the best you'll ever devour. More than just a hotel, it’s a bubble out of time, a sensory break that recalibrates your heart and nervous system.

For a tasty break, just the two of you

Osteria Der Belli

When you think of Italy, you think of pasta galore! And we believe (along with many others) that for a dinner for two, it’s definitely on the side of Trastevere where the magic happens. As cliché as it may sound, this neighborhood buzzes from dawn until dusk and is filled with delightful Italian trattorias where you can relax. Our top pick? L'Osteria Der Belli, a staple in the area that proudly features fresh fish and seafood. You’ll want to try their grilled octopus, spaghetti alle vongole or lobster, all topped off with a magnificent tiramisu.

Yezi Restaurant

As evening falls and your stomach starts to rumble, settle down at the table of Yezi, tucked away in the Art'otel - you won’t regret it. It's one of the most delightful culinary surprises of your visit: a restaurant with a play of light and dark, inspired by Asian designs, filled with softly glowing lanterns, rustic furniture, and striking tableware. There’s no pasta here, but plates that play with Asian flavors, fire, and freshness. Enjoy fried or steamed dim sum, skewers straight off the grill, sashimi, spinach salad with gomasio, and nori tacos with avocado… The sharing plates keep coming, glasses clink and empty, the flavors are just right, and the atmosphere is fabulous. Intimate yet generous, perfect for a tête-à-tête – we give it our thumbs up!

Nino

Just a stone's throw from the bustling via del Corso, this historic restaurant has been delighting locals and travelers since 1934. Judging by the crowds, it’s clear it’s still a beloved spot! Nino, with its charming trattoria vibe, serves up mouth-watering Tuscan and Roman specialties every day, including must-try artichokes in olive oil, beef carpaccio with parmesan, and the star of the menu: fresh pasta showered in a cloud of truffle. Mamma mia.

Regoli Pasticceria

To all our readers and sweet tooth lovers: make sure you don’t miss out on the delicious pastries Italy has to offer. With Regoli Pasticceria, you’ll have plenty to indulge in! In addition to a plethora of cannoli, amaretti, and all kinds of cookies, this place boasts one of the best maritozzo in Rome. For those unfamiliar, a maritozzo is basically a big, fluffy brioche (very) generously filled with cream. Let’s just say it gets messy, but it’s oh-so-delicious…

Gelateria del Teatro

What would a trip to Italy be without a delicious break at one of the city's traditional ice cream shops? If you find yourself in Rome, a stop at Gelateria del Teatro is a must to indulge in some gelato. Here, ice creams and sorbets take the spotlight (of course), with classic flavors ranging from fior di latte to pistachio, and even more unique ones like ricotta-fig and Sicilian wine. Share the experience with friends!

For a romantic stroll off the beaten path

The Farnesina Villa

In the heart of the Trastevere district, far from the heavily visited Villa Borghese, the Farnesina Villa is a dreamy backdrop for a bucolic and romantic walk. This grand 16th-century building boasts beautifully adorned walls and ceilings – a hallmark of Italy – along with a charming private garden, overflowing with roses and lemon trees, lovely pathways, and discreet fountains.

The Baths of Caracalla

You know, Rome is an open-air museum. Just take a couple of steps to see a marvel rise before your eyes. So if you also adore old stones and beautiful stories – and you’ve already seen the Colosseum and the Roman Forum countless times – be sure to discover the Baths of Caracalla. What’s the promise? A romantic stroll in Ancient Rome with the largest and most luxurious Roman baths beautifully preserved. It’s worth the detour!

Cinema Farnese

One thing's for sure, in Rome, you walk! And to be honest, the public transport in the city isn't always the best, which means us poor homebodies have to stretch our legs to get from point A to point B. You might say that's the best way to soak in all the surrounding beauty while traveling! But sometimes, it’s nice to treat ourselves to a little break. We chose to hide away in a dark room, just long enough for a well-deserved Italian film. On the Campo de’ Fiori market square (another must-see!), the historic Farnese cinema offers the best films at the moment for you to enjoy with your loved one.
