When you book a weekend in Rome, you generally know what to expect. Ice creams, pastas, and pizzas that'll make your head spin, art and crazy monuments on every street corner, and a weather that'll make all your friends back in France green with envy. And then there's the Colosseum, the Sistine Chapel, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, the Borghese Gallery… In short, all those places to see at least once in your life, and maybe two or three times, just for the fun of it.

Anyway, we can’t get enough of going back again and again, always on the lookout for new spots that will make our hearts flutter. With a few romantic weekends spent wandering the streets of Trastevere and watching the sunset from the heights of the Spanish Steps, you might even say that the true city of love could very well be Rome (sorry to all the true Parisians). So here’s a little tour of h...

orizon of these recently discovered addresses that let us experience pure Roman romance.

For a 5-star stay

Hôtel de la Ville

Perfectly located at the top of the famous steps of the Piazza di Spagna – walked by Audrey Hepburn herself in Roman Holiday – Hôtel de la Ville, part of Rocco Forte Hotels, is a delightful blend of Roman romance and modern comfort. In this charming 18th-century palazzo, you’ll find attentive staff, sumptuous rooms and suites, an incredibly rejuvenating Roman spa, fabulously decorated lounges, and a whole bunch of quintessentially Italian terraces where you can enjoy a peaceful breakfast (don’t miss the scrambled eggs prepared carbonara-style, a must-try). To top it all off, the rooftop Cielo Bar will literally take you to cloud nine with its breathtaking view over the entire city. It's the perfect spot to end your evening, signature cocktail in hand, admiring the monuments.Eternal City lit up in the background.

For a delightful gourmet moment face to face

Osteria Der Belli

When you think of Italy, you think of pasta galore! And if you ask us (and many others), for a romantic dinner, it’s in Trastevere where the magic happens. As clichéd as it may sound, this neighborhood buzzes from dawn till dusk and is filled with charming Italian trattorias where you can enjoy a meal. Our go-to spot? L'Osteria Der Belli, a beloved institution in the area that specializes in fresh fish and seafood. People flock here for its grilled octopus, spaghetti alle vongole or lobster, all topped off with a gorgeous tiramisu.

Just a stone's throw away from the bustling via del Corso, this historic restaurant has been delighting Romans and travelers alike since 1934. With its steady stream of visitors, it's clear that it remains a favorite! Nino and his charming trattoria vibes whip up mouthwatering Tuscan and Roman specialties every day, including must-try carciofi in olive oil, beef carpaccio with parmesan, and the star of the menu: fresh pasta sprinkled with a cloud of truffle. Regoli Pasticceria

To all our lovely readers and sweet tooths: don't miss out on the delicious pastries that Italy has to offer! With Regoli Pasticceria, you'll have plenty to indulge in! Along with a whole bunch of cannoli, amaretti, and all kinds of cookies, this place is known for making one of the best maritozzo in Rome. For those who aren't familiar, maritozzo is basically a big, fluffy brioche (really) generously filled with cream. Let’s just say it can get messy, but it's so tasty...

Gelateria del Teatro

What would a trip to Italy be without a delicious break at one of the traditional ice cream shops in the city? If you find yourself in Rome, make sure to stop by Gelateria del Teatro to indulge in a delightful raid of gelato. Here, ice creams and sorbets take center stage (of course) with classic flavors ranging from fior di latte to pistachio, to more unusual ones like ricotta-fig and Sicilian wine. Share it all!

For a romantic stroll off the beaten path

The Farnesina Villa

Right in the heart of the Trastevere district and away from the heavily visited Villa Borghese, The Farnesina Villa is a dreamlike setting for a charming and romantic walk. A large building dating back to the 16th century, with beautifully decorated walls and ceilings – Italy never disappoints – and also a magical private garden filled with countless rose and lemon trees, along with lovely pathways and discreet fountains.

So, if you're also crazy about old stones and beautiful stories – and you've seen the Colosseum and the Roman Forum a million times – set off to discover the Baths of Caracalla. What's the promise? A romantic stroll through Ancient Rome with the largest and most luxurious Roman baths beautifully preserved. It's totally worth the detour!

Farnese Cinema

One thing is for sure, in Rome, you walk. And to be honest, the public transport isn’t always the best, forcing us poor homebodies and couch potatoes to stretch our legs to get from point A to point B. But hey, it’s a great way to soak in all the beauty around us, right? Still, sometimes you just need to take a little break. We decided to hide away in a dark theater for a well-deserved Italian film. At the Campo de’ Fiori market square (another must-see), the historic Farnese cinema offers the best movies of the moment to enjoy with your loved ones.
