Maybe you'll see your hometown come out on top… Unless it's around Paris. This Monday, January 27, the booking site Booking.com revealed its Traveller Review Awards 2025, a ranking that helps you discover the most welcome regions and cities in France as judged by users of the platform.
Let’s be honest: this 2025 edition is not very uplifting for Île-de-France, and it's even a bit shocking for us Parisians. The capital has been left off the list, and this is after hosting the Olympic Games.iques the most viewed in History. If that’s not welcoming, we’re looking for a clearer definition.

Brittany, it's winning you over!
As explained by the local media Here, this annual ceremony recognizes "the providers and accommodations most welcoming in France" every year.elements the highest rated in 220 countries, relying on over 240 million user reviews». And in 2025, they delivered a clear average: Brittany is awarded the title of the most welcoming region in France, followed by Corsica, last year's winner. The ranking highlights " its remarkable and diverse heritage, its rugged coastlines, its picturesque villages, and its many forests ».
A rather logical result knowing that Brittany is already one of the ten most welcoming regions in the world according to Booking, surpassing regions from Mexico, Vietnam, and the Netherlands. ;Just like in 2024, Alsace keeps its third place, while Pays de la Loire and Auvergne manage to rise in the rankings, even though they were missing last year.

These French Cities Where Life is Great
Booking, brimming with data from all scales, has also established the top 10 most welcoming French cities. The first surprise: this time, no Breton city made the list. Other regions are shining bright: Alsace and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur are stepping into the spotlight, with three and four towns respectively in the rankings.
In fact, the city of Roussillon (PACA), in the department of Vaucluse, takes the top spot. This department is on the rise, as in 2024, Vaison-la-Romaine had already been awarded this title. Here’s the complete ranking: &nb1. Roussillon (Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur)
2. Arcs 1950 (Rhône-Alpes)
3. Riquewihr (Alsace)
4. Eguisheim (Alsace)
5. L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue (Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur)
6. Kaysersberg (Alsace)
7. Bédoin (Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur)
8. Saint-Rémy-de-Provence (Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur)
9. Aigues-Mortes (Languedoc-Roussillon)
10. Saint-Émilion (Aquitaine)
The City of Light doesn’t seem to have gathered enough positive reviews to hope for a spot on the list. We can only wait for next year and hope for a magnificent comeback.
