Barbizon is so much more than just a simple village: it's a place rich in artistic history. A green gem just an hour from Paris, it has shaped modern painting. This little town with timeless charm has inspired many impressionist and pre-impressionist painters like Théodore Rousseau, Jean-Baptiste Corot, and Alfred Sisley.
Why Barbizon? Because in the 19th century, its landscapes of majestic forests and peaceful countryside offered a unique backdrop, far from the hustle and bustle of Paris. Artists came here seeking the changing light, the colors of nature, and tranquility. Today, we still wander its picturesque streets, which transport us with their bohemian charm and the creative atmosphere that lingers here. Among lush backdrops, beautiful homes, and an artistic spirit, Barbizon remains a timeless place, perfect for a cultural escape in nature.

The Folie Barbizon
Just reopened in June after two years of renovations and transformation, the Folie Barbizon invites us to enjoy sweet nights in a countryside retreat nestled on the edge of the forest, in complete tranquility. Interior architect Marion Collard and artistic director Sarah Valente have created a living space that harmonizes the love of nature and the love of art. Each room and every bedroom is a masterpiece in its own right, allowing a free expression of the imagination of about twenty artists who came to leave their mark and their universe. In short, a place where time is savored, from the warm living rooms to the wooded outdoor spaces, all the way to the restaurant on the ground floor, which serves delicious and intimate dinners on the entrance terrace.
