Mind-opening montages
A picture is worth a thousand words, and this is evident in the works of French digital artist Fabien Barrau, who has created photomontages of major cities worldwide, including Paris, depicting dramatic representations of climate change. It may seem distant, but it is a harsh reality. On his Instagram account, he has shared an informative series of photos as well as photomontages that aim to give us a glimpse of the future on Earth. These images primarily serve to make us realize the disastrous effects of climate change. Among them, you can find an image of the Taj Mahal and even the Statue of Liberty submerged underwater, as well as the Colosseum in ruins in a desert. These scenarios are chilling, but highly likely in the years to come if climate change .continue to worsen…

The potential future of Paris
Based in Paris, the photographer has obviously explored the capital in its apocalyptic future, and it's not reassuring. As you can see from the pictures above, only the Eiffel Tower and what remains of the 7th and 16th arrondissements are still visible, the rest of the City of Light having been engulfed by sand. While these montages dramatize the short-term effects of climate change, perhaps they also make assumptions about our environment in several hundred years. For the curious little ones who want to see the future of other major world cities, you can discover other montages by Fabien Barrau on his Instagram account.
