Paris is magical but Paris is grey. What better way to fall in love with your city again than being unfaithful to it for a weekend? Plus, if a friend has the SNCF Young 18-27 Card, thanks to the Last Minute Deals, he can share the same discounts with up to 4 friends! Why miss out on such a great opportunity? This week, Le Bonbon is taking you to Rennes. Tiring walks, sunny pancakes, and a night in prison... Grab your coat, we're going to Rennes!

The Best Places

Settling In

Rennes isn't big, and that's very enjoyable! Therefore, settling in the city center, near the train station, seems like an ideal solution to access the many opportunities the city has to offer.

Take a stroll

Find the nearest 'Star' station (everyone with their Velib'!) and go explore the city by bike! From old Rennes, to the banks of the Vilaine, passing through Thabor and the quays of mail François Mitterrand... Get on your bike! Oh, on Saturday morning, don't miss the Market des Lices at the Place des Lices.

Eating a Piece

For a flavorful immersion into traditional Brittany, the crêperie Ouzh-Toal is the best in Rennes. Its original recipes and the very family-friendly atmosphere of the restaurant make it stand out. If crepes don't make your mouth water, Le Carré at the bottom of Place des Lices delights with a more modern cuisine; Le Baron Rouge also offers an enticing menu for a sweet note. Furthermore, if your appetite is looking to escape, visit Wok Restaurant. Not very typical of the region, it's true, but their Asian dishes are to die for! The salmon sushi or Thai makis are cooked right in front of your eyes and made with ultra fresh ingredients! Take away or enjoy them on site, in a lounge interior with pink neon lights and high tables.

A bit of culture

Les Champs Libres is a cultural center addressing a multitude of themes related to society, culture, and science. Le Planétarium sends you to the stars, while FRAC will delight contemporary art enthusiasts!

A terrace!

The sun is shining on the streets of Rennes. We've had a nice walk; got a little lost too, yes, that's true, but that's part of the fun. Our legs are starting to give out, and our throats are getting dry. Oh, a terrace! Le Scoop and Le P'tit Vélo have sunny spaces to linger after the walk. Le Café des Champs Libres, just a stone's throw from the train station, will charm you upon your arrival, or after visiting a neighboring exhibition. A 200 m2 terrace where you can relax and enjoy your time.

You should be able to settle in well! A little snack at the Bistrot à Tartines seems appropriate to recover from the effort. Finally, L'atelier de l'artiste offers a glass of wine of the month to order at the counter, before sinking into the back of the room to enjoy the plant patio, large umbrellas, and the last rays of the sun. What more could people ask for? Oh, if the weather isn't conducive to outdoor seating, a great hot chocolate at the Candiot Café and a homemade pastry at the Royal will straighten you out; adorable places!

If you're feeling more like partying than being electronic, it's hard to escape the "Street of Thirst", an emblematic corner of the festivities in Rennes. Actually called the Saint-Michel Street and located in the heart of the city's historic center, opinions about it differ. Nicknamed the "Piss Street" by the locals (due to the bladder-filling habits of partygoers), it still arouses curiosity. In a bohemian rock atmosphere, the punk dogs mingle with customers of the watchmaker or the videorama. As for the multiple bars lining the street, whose concerts pay tribute to the city's nickname in the 80s, the "rock city" - they bring the whole place to life from the aperitif hour. We sit at the large outdoor tables, sipping a 5 euro cocktail, waiting for nightfall and the atmosphere to heat up. Without realizing it, after spinning between several counters, you will surely end up downing a line of shots to the beat of 80s hits, before...Join the crowd on the paved road as they sing bawdy songs together. Sleep well!
