The Editor

After a fruitful debate, we agreed to put together a list of addresses where you can: 1. avoid crazy queues, 2. have a great time without breaking the bank, 3. steer clear of "trendy" places. It's a selection of addresses made by Parisians... for Parisians, basically. Enjoy!

The unassuming bar...

...and yet. Well, actually, there's no surprise inside, but "just" a great local atmosphere, with regulars, curious visitors, and a few lost souls, and we all love it. Sandrine, the owner, has been living in the neighborhood (Montmartre) for over thirty years and speaks loudly to her customers as if they were her friends, because they almost are. We go there for all of that and much more (maybe the price of the beer and Gilou's laughter).

Chez Aimé
17, rue des Trois-Frères - 18th arrondissement

The unexpected church that transports you

As incredible as it is real, the orthodox church of Saint-Serge is a hidden piece of Russia in the 19th arrondissement, on rue de Crimée. To have the chance to admire it, one must not be afraid to go to the end of a narrow and unwelcoming alley. The game is worth the candle: inside, the wall frescoes from 1920 are magnificent!

The secret burger that rocks

We all know the burger spots by heart, no need to mention them. So, we invite you to try a neighborhood, cozy, and original one that is passed around secretly, just so you can sit down and eat without (too much) waiting. Welcome to the warm and delicious Echoppe de Paris: beef burger, salmon burger, veggie burger. It's all here. You're welcome!

The good old neighborhood bar with its large terrace

At Le Danube, we come to sit on the terrace to catch up with friends at the end of the day, over a good pint of beer or a €5 cocktail (happy hour from 4pm to 10pm!). Youssef, the giant boss, always comes to greet us with his massive hand and take our order, and if we're nice and stay a while, a plate of fries and sauces is never too far away. A good neighborhood bar, where everyone knows each other and where a certain Mathieu A. has his habits...

The lesser-known monument

When it comes to a monument that is less known than its iconic counterparts like the Eiffel Tower, it usually means a place where you can easily move around. For a little background story, the Expiatory Chapel is built on the very spot where Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette were once buried... PS: You can even get married there.

29, rue Pasquier - 8th

The museum where we become friends with the guards

Away from the classics, here is the intimate yet brilliant museum of recorded sound! It displays a superb collection of rare and unique historical sound machines in Europe. Phonographs, record players, tape recorders, or jukeboxes immerse us in a completely different era... we almost become nostalgic!

The trick to avoid the longest change in the world

Take the bike. Seriously, when you arrive at Montparnasse coming from line 6 and you want to take line 13, we all know about the endless tunnel of death. Instead of going through that eternal tunnel, just go down on the left when you exit the metro and take the stairs. Magical!
