The beautiful weather is coming, what could be better than a breath of fresh air to recharge your batteries while sitting around a bucolic picnic? Sharpen your knife, iron your tablecloth, don't forget the essential equipment: the corkscrew and plastic cups. For all occasions, here is a small guide to the best picnic spots in Paris.
We don't think about it enough
Far from the tourists
The little square facing the vineyards is particularly cute and unknown to tourists. Whether you want to hang out with friends or go on a date, this spot is suitable for every situation... far from pickpockets, in every sense of the word.
Vines of Montmartre
Rue des Saules - 18th arrondissement
In a boat
Excuse my obsession with water but where there's sun, there's a long and calm river/canal... So let's go all out and rent a boat without a license. The more adventurous ones can rent a boat for a day and leave Paris until the lock of Sevran. Between street art works, picnic breaks, and serving aperitif platters on the boat, get ready for a real journey off the paved paths.

Villette Basin

The Unexpected
Transformed from an old railway track, the Green Path is more than 4 km of greenery that runs through the 12th district. You can take a short run along the path, but it can be tiring. So instead, we prefer to sit and have a picnic. Rather than inviting you to a place that's too common, choose one of the many hidden spots with grass where you can enjoy your meal away from prying eyes.

The promenade of the greenway
Viaduct of the Arts - 12th arrondissement
In the water
Paris and New York at the same time: what a thrill. If this island is not the closest to the city center, it has the advantage of being less crowded. The architecture of its bridges and stairs is magnificent. Not to mention the Cygnes promenade, always beautiful no matter the season. But be careful not to throw your food into the water.
The Swan Island - 15th
Feet in the water
If you don't like the Statue of Liberty, let's go to a very French island, the one on the Cité. When you're at the end of the park, with your feet in the water and facing the capital, it's magnificent, even more so with a little bit of tsatsiki.

Square Vert-Galant
Île de la Cité - 1st arrondissement
Hidden at the end of a hidden alleyway
A bit like the vines of Montmartre, this garden is a little haven of peace in the heart of Paris. Just a stone's throw from the Seine in the gardens of the former Hôtel Saint-Aignan, it's perfect for having lunch alone during the midday or taking a break in the afternoons when you feel like walking alone... Well, they won't fool you, it's also perfect for coming and sitting together on a bench and "grabbing a bite", as they say.
Jardin Anne Franck
14, impasse Berthaud - 3rd arrondissement
The classics
By the Canal Saint-Martin / l'Ourcq
It's one of the most popular spots as soon as the first rays of sunshine illuminate Paris. It's still just as enjoyable to have a drink by the Canal Saint-Martin and l'Ourcq. The atmosphere is always cheerful (until a certain hour) and the SUPER U and other nearby grocery stores allow for replenishment in case of shortage.
The place is pleasant all day long, but it's especially ideal for lunch break. Less crowded, more peaceful: it's perfect for taking a break during the work day. We particularly recommend the tip of Saint-Louis island, under the Quai de Bourbon facing the City Hall.
The grand new
For a few months now, the banks of the Seine have been given back to pedestrians and cyclists. Located between the Tuileries tunnel and the Arsenal basin, this little green area will invite Parisians to exercise, refresh themselves, and most importantly, have a peaceful picnic without any cars. And since this grand garden is new, you might be the first to inaugurate a little patch of grass with your goodies. Yum.
Berges de Seine
George Pompidou Way - 4th arrondissement
The parks
With friends or very old friends
This one is highly recommended, you can appreciate the calmness, because honestly, it's not the first thing that comes to mind for lovers of picnic on the grass. As a result, it easily stands out, and the setting is no less than that of the canal (which often turns into a giant trash can before midnight).
La Villette
211, avenue Jean Jaurès - 19th
With ALL the buddies
Certainly, you won't be the only ones to have had this idea. But if you arrive on time, set up your little table nicely, and delight in seeing others queueing up in front of Rosa Bonheur, a glass of rosé in hand (even though we love Rosa Bonheur, huh). Hehe.
