The Editor

Situated between the 1st and 2nd arrondissements, the cobblestone streets of Montorgueil have become a symbol of modern and popular Paris. This artery, with its village-like charm, has gradually won over the hearts of Parisians to become a reference in its own right. Restaurants, bars, hotspots - we're taking you on a tour of THE pedestrian street in the capital, sound good?

As the main artery of central Paris, Montorgueil Street has become one of the busiest shopping streets in the capital. Once leading to Mount Orgueilleux, it has retained its name over the centuries. Highly appreciated by Parisians since cars are prohibited, it is very popular, especially on weekends. And it's no wonder, as it is probably the street in Paris with the most outdoor terraces per square meter. We especially recommend going there on Friday evening when everyone is happy to be on the weekend. Trust us, it's good for the soul. And come on, admit it, it's really nice not to be surrounded by car exhaust for a moment.

Here you will definitely find what you are looking for: fresh produce, gourmet shops, bars, and restaurants. Yes, you have stumbled upon the kingdom of terraces. It almost feels like being in a southern city: the cobblestones, the (slightly) cleaner air than usual, and above all, the thousand and one flavors that emanate from it. So, okay, we're not exactly in the South, but we're unlike anywhere else in Paris, promise.

As the main artery of central Paris, Rue Montorgueil has become one of the busiest shopping streets in the capital. Once leading to the proud mountain (Mont Orgueilleux), it has preserved its timeless charm and now offers a wide array of shops, cafés, and entertainment venues. Whether you're a food lover or just looking for a lively atmosphere, Rue Montorgueil is the place to be.

m over the centuries. Much loved by Parisians since cars are prohibited, it is very crowded, especially on weekends. And for good reason, it is certainly the street in Paris with the most terraces per square meter. We especially recommend taking a stroll there on Friday evenings when everyone is happy to be on the weekend. We assure you, it does wonders for your spirits. And come on, admit it's really nice not to be bothered by car exhaust fumes for a moment.

The Must-Sees

Stohrer Patisserie

Prepare to be amazed, Stohrer proudly holds the title of Paris' oldest patisserie. Established in 1730, it even had the honor of feeding Marie Leszczynska, the wife of Louis XV, who brought along her Polish pastry chef. The creator of the famous rum baba, Nicolas Stohrer quickly became a reference on Montorgueil street. And even if you're not a fan of pastries, you can still stop by to admire its beautiful historical facade, its gilding and frescoes, but most importantly, its neighborhood spirit.

The Montorgueil Snail

You can't miss this restaurant with its Second Empire decor. Well, everything is in the name, so if the sight of snails disgusts you, we advise you to pass by. However, if you're fond of escargots with shallots and garlic, this should interest you. You can certainly enjoy delicious escargots, but you'll also find dishes like Challans duck with orange and crepes Suzette on the menu. But this restaurant would be nothing without its history: imagine that it was the headquarters of personalities like Sarah Bernhardt and Marcel Proust. Yes indeed...

To have a drink

Experimental Cocktail Club

Tired of mojitos and tequila sunrises? Don't worry, we found the perfect bar for you. It's all in the name: here, it's all about experiences. Inspired by New York's mixology bars, the Experimental Cocktail Club loves to mix rare alcohols, fresh fruit juices, and original spices, resulting in some pretty surprising concoctions. We especially recommend the Bee's Kiss, which combines Jamaican Appleton VX rum, cream, organic flower honey, and crushed Indonesian pepper. Yes, it's a little strange, but it's worth a try.

It's a great way to enjoy the summer and soak up the sun. And the cocktail is only €5.50 during Happy Hour. We definitely recommend it.

Must-see

The green wall on Rue d'Aboukir

The 250m2 of this green wall, designed by Patrick Blanc, are truly impressive! You'll find 7500 plants from over 250 different species, a little wonder. Named "the oasis of Aboukir", this wall is a real mini-forest in the midst of buildings, and we must admit that it feels good.

The Saint-Eustache Church

Located at the end of Montorgueil Street, the Saint-Eustache Church is one of the most visited in Paris. Built in 1532, then restored in 1840, it combines different styles and eras: gothic on the outside, renaissance and classical on the inside. Known for its excellent acoustics and especially for its organ, Saint-Eustache welcomes numerous philharmonic orchestras, choirs, and festivals.
