The Editor

When the sun shines down on us during the summer, all we can think about is spending our days in the park, surrounded by lush greenery and chirping birds. Whether it's working on your laptop, taking a nap under a tree, or enjoying a picnic on the grass with your loved ones, being in the park has that special something that transports us to a vacation mindset and just one step away from total relaxation. And this is just the beginning - check out our guide to the parks of Paris for even more options for a fantastic picnic surrounded by nature. The gardens of the Albert-Kahn Museum in Boulogne-Billancourt are a delightful surprise. Take a botanical journey around the world within their 4 hectares of Japanese gardens. The landscape features a French garden with a rose garden and orchard, an English garden, a blue forest and marsh, leading to a golden forest and meadow, a Japanese village, and a Vosges forest.

You can take a little route to run, but it's tiring. So we prefer to sit down and have a picnic. Instead of inviting them to a very common place, prefer one of the many hidden spots of grass.

The Wild Garden Frédéric Dard

In Abbesses hides a tiny Parisian garden, where plants and wild herbs grow freely, and where it's nice to sit with friends or lovers away from the hustle and bustle. But shh, the spot is well-known, we count on you not to disclose the hiding place. Thank you in advance.

The Orgemont Hill

Montmartre? So overrated. Now, we gladly climb the 250 steps that separate us from one of the most beautiful views of Greater Paris! In addition to overlooking a real green but still urban balcony, The Orgemont Hill delights us with a windmill and a huge expanse of lawn where we can have some fun (and get sunburned). To do this, head to Argenteuil (95)

The Monceau Park

The chicest of the list, it remains accessible nonetheless. Inhabited by white-collar workers and students during the week, joined by the army of strollers and kids' birthday parties on the weekends. Nevertheless, it remains very pleasant, it was even recommended in our list of gardens to make love in Paris. Hehe

The Clichy Batignolles - Martin Luther King Park

In the heart of the Batignolles neighborhood, the Martin Luther King Park, completed in 2020, is the largest park in the 17th arrondissement, covering 10 hectares. Vegetal and aquatic atmospheres fill this park where strollers come to walk, play with their little ones, or complete their weekly workout session.

Parc Andre Citroen

Located on the site of the former Citroën factory in Paris, Parc Andre Citroen is one of the newest parks in the city: it was inaugurated in 1992. It is also the only green space in Paris that opens onto the Seine River. With the Jardin Blanc, Jardin Noir, and the central park, there are three areas to explore, where you can find rare plants, exotic trees, and two huge greenhouses. For sports enthusiasts, there are facilities available, while children rush to the playground, and adults engage in a lively game of ping pong. Oh, and when the weather is nice, the large gas balloon offers a 150-meter ascent. Dare to try it?

Parc Montsouris

Just a stone's throw away from the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris, Parc Montsouris is one of the most beautiful parks in Paris, with its 1400 trees, most of them being over a century old. Inspired by London parks and beloved by local students, we love to kick off our shoes and relax on the grass while watching the swans and ducks swim in the pond. Along our stroll, we also come across bronze or stone sculptures, and sports enthusiasts have a blast playing football and basketball on the fields.

Parc de la Villette

With its 55 hectares of green spaces, Parc de la Villette is the largest in the capital, and undoubtedly the favorite spot for Parisians to have a picnic or enjoy a drink at the end of the day. The gardens invite us to discover the 12 green areas of the park, as well as playgrounds, water features, and intimate spaces surrounded by nature. But Parc de la Villette is also a hub of cultural activities: you can visit the Philharmonie de Paris, Cabaret Sauvage, Péniche cinéma, the City of Science and Industry, or even the Grand Halle to explore various exhibitions.

Parc Floral de Paris

The Parc Floral is 35 hectares of nature in the heart of the 12th arrondissement, and the best alternative if you want to avoid the crowds of Buttes-Chaumont or Villette. In the middle of the Bois de Vincennes, you can discover thousands of beautiful plants and flowers, as well as a series of themed gardens with over 200 varieties of tulips and colorful dahlias. And if you're more interested in fauna than flora, the Paris Zoological Park is just a stone's throw away.
