The most exotic: Lake Chalain

Like a taste of the tropics... Lake Chalain has a magical power: it offers us a complete change of scenery and the fierce impression of being thousands of kilometers away from France. With its turquoise waters, this spot is one of the largest natural lakes in France, that's quite something. And to top it all off, it also has three equipped beaches where you can sunbathe, have a picnic, and take a dip.
The most authentic: Baume-les-Messieurs village

Behind this funny name, Baume-les-Messieurs is a picturesque village nestled in the heart of the Jura mountains. With its beautiful abbey and its breathtaking natural setting, it embodies authenticity. It's the perfect place to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and immerse yourself in a peaceful atmosphere. Don't miss the opportunity to explore its caves and taste the local specialties.
One of the most beautiful villages in France is hidden here. From small stone streets to breathtaking viewpoints and the imperial abbey dating back to the 9th century, there is plenty to marvel at in Baume-les-Messieurs. We highly recommend taking a look at the abbey church, built in the 11th century, which houses statues and a magnificent altarpiece executed in Antwerp in the 16th century. The most historic: the Cerdon Caves Nestled in prehistory, the site of the Cerdon Caves is full of memories and offers two types of excursions: either you become a historian and explain everything to your friends, or you are a little less confident and in that case, you can download the audio guide. We have made it available for you. In both cases, you will find yourself in a natural cathedral carved thousands of years ago in the limestone of the Jura Mountains. The most Jurassic: Dinoplagne site As the name suggests, the term "Jurassic" originated from the Jura Mountains, where a warm sea inhabited by dinosaurs partially covered the current massif from -200 to -145 million years ago. Freshly opened since July 9, 2021, the Dinoplagne site (designated as a Sensitive Natural Area by the Ain department) houses a 155-meter track of sauropod dinosaur footprints, making it the longest in the world. Needless to say, this attraction is worth a visit. The most panoramic: the summit of [missing text]u Mont d'Or

Accessible by hiking (but also by car from the villages of Longevilles-Mont-d'Or or Rochejean), the summit of Mont d'Or offers a wonderful 360-degree panorama of over 300 peaks in the Alpine range, including Mont Blanc... A landscape of cliffs and pastures that will give you a real sense of freedom, far away from the chaos of city life.
The most natural: the Frasne bogs

Similar to what the Tundra can be in the polar regions of Russia or Iceland, the Frasne bogs immerse you in a unique natural setting.Frasne is home to a rare and preserved ecosystem that will surely take you on an exotic adventure. The scenery will awaken the adventurer within you, as you venture through this vibrant nature, crossing the small wooden footbridge that overlooks the authentic vegetation of the place.
The most WOW factor: the view from the Belvédère des 4 lacs

Perched at an altitude of 900 meters, the Belvédère des 4 lacs offers one of the most beautiful views in the entire region. From the top, you can admire the stunning rounded relief of the Jura mountains, as well as 4 glacial lakes: Ilay, Narlay, Petit, and Grand Maclu. A breathtaking 360° view where colors unfold, from jade, sapphire, turquoise, to khaki. Your eyes will be in for a treat.
