The Editor

Hello to all the Southerners of Île-de-France! We're taking you on a stroll in Ivry-sur-Seine, home to an architectural gem that is slowly losing its splendor - the Etoiles de Renaudie.

Did you know that even the cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin himself inaugurated the city that bears his name? From a cultural perspective, the city also makes others envious with its libraries and cultural centers. Not to mention that Diego Alary, the candidate from Top Chef, is from here. The historical stronghold of the French Communist Party continues to make headlines, just a stone's throw away from the thirteenth arrondissement.

For brunch: O'Papillon

Just near the RER station of Ivry-sur-Seine, you'll find O'Papillon, where you can enjoy a delightful brunch in the heart of the industrial district. When it comes to the menu, you'll find a typically French selection (all you can eat, but always being mindful not to waste): homemade hot and cold drinks, delicious hot dishes, cheeses, and heavenly desserts. The only drawback is the decor, which reminds more of a party venue than a spot to relax.

Cozy brunch, but the content on your plate will surely make you forget about the minimalism of the place. If you can, sit under the veranda, under the blooming cherry trees.

Le Hangar settled in 2007 just a stone's throw from the town hall.d'Ivry. Today, the place has become a true institution in the city, both to go and listen to a concert and to rehearse in the small studios made available with a whole range of instruments.

For an exhibition: the Ivry-le-Crédac Contemporary Art Center

In this former industrial building, there are rRegularly exhibiting sharp exhibitions showcasing actors from the contemporary art scene. Sculpture, photography, cinema... There is always something to see there. Nestled in the former Oeillets métallique factory, the place is a double witness to the city's working-class past and its artistic revival.

For a theater play: The theater of the neighborhoods of Ivry

While you're here, make sure to visit the theater of the neighborhoods of Ivry, located in the grand hall of the Manufacture des Oeillets. Readings, plays, and shows are always in line with current events, just like the latest play by Olivier Martin-Salvan, "Jacqueline, écrits d'art brut", which explores the link between mental disorders and artistic creation. Other shows bring back strong characters from history, like "Le silence et la peur", which tells the story of singer Nina Simone and immerses us in segregated America.
