The Editor

Good news for lovers of Basque food (and for those who are tired of Greek food, pizzas, and other Parisian hamburgers). No need to endure a 6-hour train ride to Saint-Jean-de-Luz to taste an excellent marmitako, a good ttoro, or a spiced axoa. We have found the best Basque addresses in the capital, all you have to do is choose!

Chez Tof

In this bistro with a provincial feel, we enjoy ourselves without worrying about our wallets: semi-cooked foie gras with Armagnac, roasted duck breast with Espelette pepper, duck tartare... The ingredients are fresh and we love that everything is 100% homemade. Special mention for their delicious Basque cake, the sweet touch that completes it all.

30, rue Saint-Marc - 2nd

Pottoka

At Pottoka, the atmosphere is just like the dishes: clean and beautifully staged. Sébastien Gravé presents here an elegant and refined cuisine, just as you would wish for. The plates, full of colors (and flavors), are ultra-instagrammable, so stunning that it's even difficult to start eating them! A must-try: the fermented soy cod, the confit lamb shoulder, and the pig's feet. A true delight that will require you to spend a little, but we assure you, you will never, ever regret it.

4, rue de l'Exposition - 7th

The Basque Steering Wheel

In the heart of the 15th arrondissement, this house warmly welcomes its clients (composed of 70% rugby players and 30% tourists!) in a typical Basque atmosphere. The traditional cuisine is delicious and comforting, and what we love above all is the wide selection of wines offered.

Chez Papa

When it comes to restaurant chains, it doesn't always mean the food is gross. The proof is with Chez Papa, where you feel right at home in a completely relaxed atmosphere. As soon as you walk in, you're transported to the Southwest with the delicious smells of foie gras, duck breast, and veal axoa... Here you get your money's worth and even the biggest foodies will be delighted (and satiated) when they leave!

85, avenue Gambetta - 20th

A. NOSTE

Behind A. NOSTE is Julien Duboué, a former rugby player from the Landes region, who has successfully reinvented himself as a restaurateur. Afaria and Dans les Landes, that's him! In this very contemporary restaurant (his third, in fact), he serves typical dishes from his region and much more! Braised veal with clams, warm boudin pot with apples, plates of charcuterie from Eric Ospital, not to mention the sublime homemade Basque sandwiches that you can take to go. A delight accessible to everyone!

6 bis, rue du 4 Septembre - 2e

Le Grand Pan

Here is an essential address, always crowded at lunch and dinner. The team in charge is young, dynamic, and efficient, under the control of the talented chef Benoît Gauthier. Their specialties: magnificent cuts of meat to share (beef, veal, pork), and well-stocked (and well-chosen) cheese boards. It's easy to understand the enthusiasm!

20, rue Rosenwald - 15th

Chez Gladines

Here's another trendy Basque restaurant chain. On the menu, you'll find delicious Basque chicken, hearty cassoulet, piperade, Basque omelette... Basically, everything we love. A great place for a budget-friendly lunch, and on top of that, they have several locations all over the city. You have no more excuses not to go!

La Cantine du Troquet

La Cantine du Troquet is the mythical address of Chef Christian Etchebest in the heart of the 14th arrondissement. Since its opening in 2008, it has had four little brothers scattered all over Paris. Their common points? Authentic cuisine, local products, and mouth-watering dishes. It's simple here, everything is delicious! You can blindly order the classic merlu à la basquaise, the axoa, or the pork loin. However, be careful to avoid rush hours. You might end up leaving empty-handed...

Osaba

We already introduced you to this little secret address. Behind the counter, Frédéric welcomes and advises his customers with special care. His products come directly from local producers: heavenly sheep cheese, wines, irresistible charcuterie... For the privileged ones, you can enjoy some delicious pintxos on the upper floor, in a friendly atmosphere.

L'ami Jean

In this cheerful bistro, you can quickly fill your stomach, but be careful not to bite off more than you can chew because the bill can quickly put a damper on things! The menu changes quite often, but among the must-try classics, we have the iconic veal sweetbreads and the scallops. Mmmmm, it already makes our mouths water!

Au Bascou

Falling in love with this restaurant in the heart of Le Marais. Run by chef Bertrand Guéneron, you can enjoy your meal in a peaceful and warmly decorated atmosphere. The house specialties? Veal axoa, Basque blood sausage, cod with chorizo, royal hare, duck breast with foie gras... We would love to try them all, but unfortunately our wallet doesn't agree.

Le Petit Baïona

Halfway between a bar and a restaurant, we go to Le Petit Baïona to enjoy Basque specialties (axoa, rib steaks) and plates of tapas, as well as to have a drink with friends while watching a match. We also love their very generous brunch menu (at a very reasonable price) on Sundays!

90, rue de Charonne - 11th arrondissement

And as a bonus... Pierre Oteiza

For a quick bite, there's nothing better than at Pierre Oteiza, who revived the Basque pig breed in the Aldudes valley. We stop by to taste his famous sandwiches and stock up on his (remarkable) products for happy hour. The atmosphere is super warm at his two Parisian locations and we take the opportunity to try his insane dry sausage. Special mention for the foie gras stuffed duck breast, a little gem! One thing is for sure, at Oteiza, you never leave empty-handed (or empty-bellied).
