The Editor

Originally, the galette des rois is a religious celebration that commemorates the visit of the three wise men to the baby Jesus. Well, traditionally, the celebration mainly consists of indulging in galette throughout the month of January, just to ruin our healthy New Year's resolution made on January 1st, still a little tipsy from the festivities. And since resolutions are not meant to be kept, we have put together a great selection of the best galette des rois in Paris for you.

The most original: Le Nôtre Paris

For the adventurous ones, the prestigious house Le Nôtre presents its signature galette des rois. An astonishing creation made with inverted puff pastry using the finest Or des Prés butter, enclosing a brioche soaked in passion fruit juice, layered with almond cream and sprinkled with toasted pistachio praline. A mango coulis enhances the whole experience. The little extra touch? The packaging is designed by Michaël Cailloux, making it a true little gem!

The most Parisian: Mamiche

It's been almost two years since a group of daring girls decided to open their bakery in the heart of the 9th arrondissement. A true delight for the tastebuds: everything there is delicious and of course, the homemade King's cake is no exception. Pretty, crunchy and delicious, we devoured it in one bite! Be careful, they go fast like hot cakes...

The most vegan: VG Pâtisserie

After working at the delicious Gentle Gourmet, vegan pastry chef Bérénice Leconte opened VG Pâtisserie in the Voltaire neighborhood. For almost two years now, she has been delighting our taste buds with completely vegan creations of the highest quality. Her galette is amazing, as butter is replaced with plant-based margarine but it still maintains the good texture and that satisfying sound when cut. It definitely has nothing to envy to traditional galettes.

The Most Gastronomic: Pierre Hermé

Voted the best pastry chef in the world in 2016, Pierre Hermé is partnering with Maison Christofle this year to celebrate Epiphany. The "Idole" ring, an emblem of Christofle and created by Andrée Putman, will be the lucky charm that designates the king or queen of the moment. The highlight? Finding one of the 60 medallion-shaped lucky charms designed by Christofle x Pierre Hermé and receiving another surprise of great magnitude... A beautiful combination of excellence in taste and design.

The most luxurious: La Réserve

Want a lucky cake for 2019? Today is your lucky day! The luxury hotel La Réserve offers a magnificent cake in the shape of a four-leaf clover. The first leaf of the clover is for hope, the second for faith, the third for charity, and the fourth, a nature exception, for luck. Friendship-priced galettes, with all profits being fully donated to research on the rare disease of Chronic Intestinal Pseudo Obstructions (CIPO). The unique opportunity to taste exceptional galettes from Guy Savoy, Stéphanie Le Quellec and Eric Frechon, Nicolas Beaumann, and also from Maison Aleph, without any guilt.
