It's the smell of grilled wood-fired meats that led us to the window of this new spot that's causing a stir in the 18th arrondissement. Behind the counter, a young man hand-prepares a line-up of ultra appetizing Lahmacun, ready to be baked. It's impossible to resist this Turkish specialty made of a thin bread dough filled with a spicy mixture of vegetables and minced meats. We've made up our minds, we're going in to try it!
Surpriz, the most delicious
In the heart of the 11th arrondissement, near Oberkampf, two young Berliners have settled with the wonderful ambition of introducing us to what a REAL kebab is. Surpriz resembles a former Turkish palace.The flavor-packed, perfectly toasted, and handmade bread, made every morning by a friendly Turkish baker from the 10th arrondissement. Inside, thinly sliced grilled and marinated chicken (from the same butcher as Moustafa, aka the best kebab maker in Berlin), come together with an incredible mix of raw and cooked vegetables; bell peppers, eggplants, zucchini, carrots, arugula, red and white cabbage, tomatoes, parsley, mint... all sprinkled with crumbled fresh cheese and topped with three homemade sauces (the best part? a hint of lemon zest). To be honest, it's hard to find anything better than this.

And the golden award for the best kebab in Paris according to our dear readers of Bonbon goes to this Kurdish place on Rue du Faubourg Saint Denis. They serve more than just kebabs, they serve authentic durum prepared right in front of you, a kind of filled wrap with grilled lamb, vegetables and coriander. The only downside is that it's often overcrowded and there's usually a long queue extending onto the street during weekday lunches. A truly great spot where kebabs are finally flavorful and delicious, a rarity!
