The best Japanese pastries in Paris If France is undoubtedly known for its cuisine and way of life around the world, especially for its pastry prowess, this year, the world champion pastry chef is not French but two-toned. On Saturday, January 21, Japan, represented by Moe Takahashi, Naritoshi Suzuka, and Yusaku Shibata, won the World Pastry Cup at the International Restaurant, Hotel and Food Tradeshow (Sirha) in Lyon. The land of mochi and matcha thus placed just ahead of France and Italy, in second and third places, respectively. So why not go and try some Japanese pastries throughout the capital? We have selected the best Japanese pastries in Paris. Tomo Tomo is a bit like the headquarters of Japanese way of life in Paris. Behind the door hides a tea salon, minimalistic, aesthetic, classy, zen.Founded by Tomoko Kato, this pastry shop offers a selection of authentic and refined cakes. You will discover organic pastries made entirely on site, using local and seasonal ingredients. Here, we respect the values of wagashi, which focuses on aesthetic presentation and flavor harmony. A favorite is their specialty, the Dorayaki, Japanese pancakes filled with red beans, but also their frozen mochis.

A minimalist atmosphere and Franco-Japanese pastry creations with exotic flavors: you will melt for the desserts of pastry chef Morihide Yoshida. His modern approach to Japanese pastry, blending contemporary techniques and traditional Japanese ingredients, certainly won us over. On the menu: Japanese strawberry roll cake, tangy flavored pastries, airy cheesecake rolls, pastries, green tea and lime entremet... In short, a true Paris-Tokyo fusion.

At Aki, our one and only mission is to introduce you to the traditions and flavors of Japan through original products that sometimes put a unique twist on French bakery and pastries. The bakery celebrates matcha in all its forms: brioches, cookies, mille-feuilles, marble cakes... Their specialty? The melon bread burger. Don't be fooled by its name, it's a crispy Japanese brioche on the outside and soft on the inside, filled with delicious toppings like matcha pastry cream or red bean paste whipped cream.
