The best Indian restaurants in Paris

1.38 billion inhabitants. 3.287 million km². Yes, there’s no denying that India is a vast country. A country full of regions, languages, lands, cultures, traditions… and of course, culinary specialties! From chapati bread to tandoori chicken, including vegetarian samosas and the unbeatable naan… all generously spiced, of course! Just a few bites and we are whisked away, far, far from Paris.

Mumbai Café

This is the most exotic spot right now: the Mumbai Café, a place where India meets Paris in a whirlwind of colors and flavors. Behind this gem is the trio from Tandoor Club, already known for the fabulous Delhi Bazaar. This time, they pay tribute to the legendary Irani cafés of Bombay, born in the 19th century under the influence of Persian immigrants… who themselves were inspired by Parisian cafés. It gives a bit of a Wes Anderson vibe. In the kitchen, Chef Eqbal Hossain elevates the dishes.classic Iranian café dishes: Bhurji (spiced scrambled eggs), Keema Pav (curried minced chicken with soft buns), or kati roll, a stuffed naan filled with meat or vegetables. The “chotas,” small sharing plates, playfully mingle with Indian street food: Bombay Sandwich, Chili Cheese Toast, or Egg Chicken Chop. Don’t miss the must-haves from the Tandoor: Tandoori Jhinga (grilled prawns), half masala chicken, and cauliflower with 15 spices. On the curry side, the iconic Butter Chicken sits alongside the Salli Botti, a tender lamb topped with straw potatoes. For dessert, chef Marisha Shukla creates delightful Franco-Indian treats: Caramel Custard, green chili ice cream, or Chai Profiteroles. Yummy!
