The best Greek restaurants in Paris

We don't know about you, but when summer arrives, all we dream about is a Greek salad. Feta, olives, cucumbers, olive oil, tomatoes... ingredients that smell like freshness and sunshine. But Greek cuisine is much more than that! Tarama, tzatziki, filo pastry with feta and spinach, stuffed grape leaves, moussaka... And even the must-haves of street food, gyros and souvlaki... In short, the list is long, and the Greek restaurants in the capital are here to prove it. Follow the guide!

Le Grand Café d'Athènes

Attention to all fans of tzatziki, feta, and all kinds of olives, the Saint-Denis street is home to a delicious Greek restaurant whose new menu is sure to enchant you. Here, get ready for a true journey in the heart of the Cyclades. Light wooden terrace, marble tables, azure ceramics...The terracotta decor and crockery immerse you in an exotic atmosphere that smells like vacation! As for the menu, we fell in love with the ultra-creamy tarama (probably one of the best in Paris) accompanied by a delicious Kalamata olive bread, as well as the tender octopus and potato salad. We pair it all with a good glass of natural wine made in Greece, and voila! Kalí órexi! (That means bon appétit).

From 11am to 3pm and then from 6pm to midnight. Mavrommatis This restaurant is a little piece of Greece. Run by the Mavrommatis brothers, this Parisian gem has quickly become one of the best Greek restaurants in Paris, and even on the planet. Its chef, Andréas Mavrommatis, is considered one of the best Greek chefs in the world. Talk about impressive! To make the most of your visit, we recommend trying the "discovery of Mezédès". As a main course, you can try the grilled scallops with bottarga, celery, watercress coulis, served almost raw but continuing to cook in the broth. However, be aware that this is a gourmet restaurant, so it might not be the best choice for those on a tight budget.

Filakia

Well, Filakia is not exactly a restaurant, but its souvlakis (a typical Greek sandwich made of grilled meat, toppings, all wrapped in pita bread) are so delicious that we had to talk about it. And besides, it's still less sketchy than the Greek place downstairs, and it's super tasty. And the fries are homemade, yes, yes.

Ikone Paris

This super cool restaurant on Saint-Denis street is an absolute must-try. Before talking about the food, let's talk about the atmosphere first: a long and cozy dining room on the ground floor and an amazing bar in the basement. Here, you will mainly eat small mezzes to share with your friends, and when it comes to drinks, you'll be spoiled for choice. In addition to the classic gin and tonic and mojito, the cocktail bar also offers cocktails made with Greek alcohol like La Fougue d'Artemis (Tsipouro, lime juice, ginger cordial, and sparkling water) or La Chimère Blanche (Ouzo, lime juice, cucumber syrup, and water). A great place to spend an evening with friends.

Zagros

Named after a Kurdish mountain range, Zagros has become a classic Greek canteen in Paris. Don't expect anything fancy in terms of decor, but when it comes to food, I assure you that your stomach will thank us. You can mix and match the starters like in a tapas bar: hummus, vine leaves, eggplant caviar, tarama, böreks, salads, grilled dishes, don't worry there's plenty to choose from. We recommend the Zagros grill (lamb, kefta, chicken, and veal), cooked on charcoal. Yum.

The Delights of Aphrodite

This place is a little bit THE Greek place in Paris, first of all because it belongs to the famous Mavrommatis mentioned above and also because the atmosphere is super nice. Sure, the terrace is tiny, so it's not ideal for hanging out there in the evening with your friends, but don't worry, there's plenty of space inside, and most importantly, the food is amazing. You can choose between the famous Ouzo and its big purple olives, or the sweet peppers marinated in garlic and olive oil. As a main course, we recommend the stuffed squids with vegetables. It's to die for.

Evi Evane

Located just a stone's throw away from Saint-Sulpice, this little restaurant will immerse you directly into Hellenic culture. Run by two sisters, Dina and Maria Nikolaou, here you are sure to taste the flavors of the country: everything is cooked using Mediterranean, traditional and authentic recipes. We particularly recommend the Baklava, a typical and incredibly delicious cake. It's a culinary address that you must try urgently.
