The Best Coffee Shops in Paris

Whether it's summer or winter, there are no seasons for enjoying a great coffee. Hot or iced, latte or black, flavored or plain... There are as many coffee styles as there are coffee lovers! But to make sure you don't end up with a cup of worn-out socks, we head to the best baristas, those who handle coffee beans like no one else. Luckily, we have our little list of the best coffee shops in Paris, and we're sharing it with you.

BROWN Coffee Shop

BROWN is the new coffee shop you can't live without, located on Rue de la Verrerie. The reason? The excellence of its coffee. From Honduras or Colombia, more chocolaty or fruity... The unique traits of each coffee are presented to you by Kevin, the barista and manager, so you can choose the one that fits you best. Whether you go for an espresso, americano, cappuccino, or flat white, at BROWN, this specialty coffee comes in all forms.

all kinds. Lattes, matchas, hot chocolates, and teas are, of course, also available for those who aren't fans of coffee. If you come along with your four-legged friend, they won't be left out either because a Toutouccino is also on the menu. We accompany it all with a delicious waffle made on-site or a little pastry, and voila: the day can begin!

Lactem

With its two Parisian addresses, Lactem delights all of Paris with specialty coffees, freshly roasted right in the capital, and utterly irresistible homemade pastries. Leslie and Hoëlle, longtime friends and founders of the coffee shop, offer a variety of treats to enjoy on-site or to take away, and even brunches to savor all day and all week. What's on the menu? Tasty snacks for a quick bite like the classic grilled cheese, avocado toast, and egg sandwich; plus, delightful sweets that make us melt with pleasure, like butter cookies.peanut or matcha and white chocolate. On the drink side, if you want coffee, we’ve got plenty, along with other comforting hot beverages to delight you, from matcha lattes to hot chocolate (made with pastry chocolate), along with chai or golden lattes. Kapé

Behind the door of Kapé lies a beautiful little Philippine canteen, bright and cozy, where everything is delicious to savor! It’s in their lovely open kitchen that Jessica and Aurélie offer us very special drinks and a menu full of authentic sweet and savory specialties, all jazzed up their way. The highlight of this charming discovery is, of course, their Ubefogato, a scoop of ice cream made from purple yam with an incredible violet color and a delightful nutty flavor, topped with a delicious shot of Philippine coffee. Surprising and absolutely divine. In short, a coffee shop that will take you on a faraway journey, far from... eternal and boring café latte.

Bing Sutt

A Hong Kong coffee shop, how about that? Here’s Bing Sutt. Here nothing à voir with what you're used to seeing in Paris, this place highlights the specialties of the Perle d'Orient. At the helm is Davinna, a Parisian influencer who wanted a meeting spot for the Hong Kong community but also to showcase the specialties of her childhood. Pineapple bun, egg tarts, custard tarts, cakes, cookies, milk tea... You're going to be pleasantly surprised.

The Creams

It's our favorite spot in the neighborhood (let's keep it a secret, shall we?). Great coffee and innovative drinks, super delicious sweet and savory plates based on yogurt, and two incredibly friendly managers: that's the recipe for a coffee shop we absolutely adore. No need to say more; we know you'll be convinced as soon as you walk in.

Cuvée Noire

It’s hard to miss its electric blue storefront: Cuvée Noire took over the Saint-Lazare train station neighborhood at the beginning of 2023. Innovative recipes and quality, all at affordable prices—that's the scoop! If you love coffee, you're in luck because this kiosk offers a variety of carefully selected coffee-based beverages. And if coffee isn’t your thing, no worries; Cuvée Noire also has plenty of teas, hot chocolates, and fruity drinks to choose from. We absolutely adore their ultra-moist cakes, with options like banana bread, lemon, praline hazelnut, vegan chocolate, or even the Orient Express with pistachio and orange blossom (it's out of this world).

Café Nuances

After opening its first location steps away from the Opéra Garnier, this Parisian coffee shop has launched a new takeaway counter in Saint-Germain-des-Prés. With its disco ball-inspired decor that's super pop and colorful, we love popping in for some American-Japanese inspired pastries (matcha-white chocolate cookies, banana bread, lemon poppy cake…) and, of course, coffee in all its glorious forms. Whether it’s an espresso, flat white, or latte, they've got all the classic coffee shop staples, plus some unique creations like rose-infused or chestnut honey drinks. For the summer, our favorite pick is the iced rose latte made with coconut milk, thanks to the barista’s recommendation. And if coffee isn’t quite your thing, we suggest you try...

r the iced matcha latte that is delicious.

With its 7 locations in Paris, The Coffee offers an ultra-minimalist, typically Japanese decor and, above all, high-quality beverages. Behind this place are Alexandre and Carlos and Luis Fertonani, two Brazilian brothers with the goal to make takeaway coffee culture accessible to everyone. You place your order on a tablet and leave with your treasure. It’s delicious and comforting, we couldn't ask for more!

Café Joyeux

Head over to the Opéra district to check out this spot that’s a little more friendly than the others, with a concept focused on employing only people with mental or cognitive disabilities. Nestled at the entrance of Passage Choiseul, this coffee shop is located in a historic site in old Paris with a charming bistro past, modernized in its aesthetics. Here, the products (mostly organic) are prepared on site. You can enjoy ultra-generous pastries and lunches that cater to all diets (vegan, gluten-free, or just lovers of delicious food).

chickens will finally find a place to satisfy their tummies). People also stop by just to sip on fresh juice, tea, or a coffee roasted in Brittany by individuals with mental disabilities. A few examples? We’re definitely drooling over the bacon/tomato/mushroom/basil tart. Oh, and the best part: all the profits from the coffee shop go to charity organizations. Shall we meet up there?

Braun Notes

In this cozy wooden haven, adorned with copper and softly filtered lights on rue Mogador, the café reigns supreme. Directly imported from Brazil and Ethiopia and carefully selected by Rajive, the master of the place, the beans are then roasted at Lomi, the roasting specialists in Paris. It took several meetings between the two experts to discover THE delicious and chocolaty flavor that best represents the spot. To accompany your drink, the establishment offers breakfast, pastries, and healthy lunches: salads, organic bread sandwiches, or cookies, all homemade and refreshed daily.

5 Straws

5 Straws is all about five friends who dreamed of rebelling against the tyranny of bad Parisian coffee. Unlike many trendy coffee shops, here you won’t find banana bread or those faux lattes crowding the counter, but instead a genuine coffee expertise and pastries that are simply amazing. In partnership with the roasting house Lomi in Paris (as well as Bonanza in Berlin and La Cabra in Aarhus), 5 Straws offers only carefully selected coffees known for their delightful flavors. Whether you’re soaking up the sun on the little terrace or enjoying the tranquility in the beautiful back room, it’s impossible not to feel at home.
