The Editor

"Say, isn't it Fashion Week in Paris? Judging by the hordes of towering models, the restless nights, and the colors taking over the internet and the capital, it sure seems like it. If aftershows, cocktails, and runway shows are old-fashioned to you in the Instagram era, museums still have the ability to embody emotion in fashion. Here are seven fashion exhibitions that will inspire you this year.
Manfred Thierry Mugler
Better known as Thierry Mugler, the multi-faceted creator is being exhibited by the Polka gallery, in partnership with Bercy Village. So, completely accessible, 34 photographs are displayed in the passageways until June 7th. "What guides me is the quest for the perfect location, and the perfect location is not necessarily easy to access or free for a photoshoot. My photography is an adventure, it often takes place in extreme conditions. We have sometimes found ourselves in forbidden places, on top of a temple or a building," Mugler told Sidonie Gaychet, the gallery's deputy director."Polka. Guaranteed without trickery, Thierry Mugler's photographs bear witness to surprising imagination, above cities, in the desert, in the shadow of icebergs, on dinosaurs, under the hooves of the horses of the Grand Palais, on the Art Deco peaks of the Chrysler Building in New York, in Russia, in Paris, in China, in Japan, or in Mali. We enter into a dreamlike universe, between science fiction, transhumanism, and robotics, featuring superheroines and superheroes in landscapes chosen for their unique beauty. Just like his sculptural fashion, he manages to once again affirm his unique aesthetic full of poetry by magnifying "the most beautiful animal on earth, the human being."

Betty Catroux, Yves Saint Laurent, Singular Feminine

Like many fruitful encounters, this one happened at a nightclub: when they meet at the New Jimmy's (formerly Régine, on Boulevard Montparnasse) in 1967, it is love at first sight between Yves Saint Laurent and Betty Catroux. Not a romantic love, but a stylistic one; she embodies the physical ideal and androgynous attitude that Saint Laurent is defining during this period. &laq.She is Saint Laurent through and through. Her style, her mystery, her sultry side - an elusive and desirable danger. All the elements that make up the aura of this fashion house become clear when you meet Betty. "Anthony Vaccarello, the current artistic director of the Maison, expresses this about her." The pieces showcased in the museum exhibition are from the significant donation that Betty Catroux chose to give to the Pierre Bergé - Yves Saint Laurent Foundation.

Alaïa and Balenciaga, sculptors of form

An exhibition bringing together two fashion giants, it's something we dreamed of, and the Azzedine Alaïa association made it happen. When Cristóbal Balenciaga decided to close his fashion house in 1968, the deputy director of the Balenciaga house, Mademoiselle Renée, contacted young Alaïa to offer him the stocks of fabrics and dresses stored in the workshop. Alaïa kept them and began building an archive that he would enrich throughout his life. The exhibition brings together the models of both creators in a breathtaking duel of cuts and volumes.

Cindy Sherman at the Louis Vuitton Foundation

American artist and photographer Cindy Sherman is renowned for being her own model and her setups question the image and role assigned to American women in the 60s. She refers to advertising, cinematic, and erotic imagery and playfully and boldly subverts them. A decidedly feminist exhibition.
