« On April 1st, 1993, as I was finalizing my loan to buy JM video, I was taken hostage at the bank » Philippe tells us. Fortunately, he emerged unscathed from the hold-up and has since been watching over his precious 35,000 films in his video library. Apart from its history, the place is exceptional. While DVDs fill the shelves, Philippe's only rule is to order all the films that his customers demand.

Absolutely everyone, from "an old play from the 60s to an untranslated documentary". It is thanks to this passion for art-house films that can't be found anywhere else that Philippe has managed to withstand the arrival of Netflix and streaming. He explains that the only thing that has changed since then is the clientele: "most people are true cinephiles, it's great. I rent out Fatima much more easily than the latest James Bond."

Among his faithful, he also has the chance to count some French actors. By saying that "he is looking for a new employee - attention all cinema enthusiasts - he exclaims: "ah, you see, Karine Viard rented 3 films last Wednesday and Romain Duris must be filming, it's been a long time since I've seen him". So classy.
Not only is he hip, but the return deadlines are very flexible, the prices are ultra-cheap and Philippe even ships the films directly to your home. Trying it is adopting it!
