On the day of teachers' return, we wondered how to pay tribute to these brave individuals who work, often in the shadows, for the good of humanity. It is certainly because of the immense burden they carry on their shoulders that teachers have become so important in popular culture (movies, TV, music) in recent decades, allowing them to bring to life characters who are often vibrant and unique. Here are the most iconic ones.
Professor Jones
Better known as Indiana Jones, the second coolest man in the world after Georges Abitbol, he is a legend for an entire generation. A professor of archaeology by day, and a tomb raider-adventurer at the farthest corners of the world when he manages to escape his classroom through the window at night. Pros: his sex appeal. Cons: he doesn't age well (see "Indiana Jones 4").

Mrs Robinson in Hartley
The only teacher in the world who looks younger than her students, especially the one she ends up hooking up with. It's wrong, but fortunately, everything turns out fine when Peter Rivers, that rebel, takes off with her on his roaring Harley (heart racing?). +: the leather jacket -: the greasy hair
Louanne Johnson in Dangerous Minds
Who hasn't fantasized about Michelle Pfeiffer while listening to Coolio in 1995? Sure, this movie is a big flop, but I can't help but imagine myself as a tough guy to succeed in seducing the beauty. +: her rock 'n' roll teacher look -: her acting skills

M. Keating
Do you recognize him like this? It's none other than the greatest of all, the brilliant and missed Robbie Williams in "Dead Poets Society". This amazing character can be summed up with this injunction from Walt Whitman: "O Captain! My Captain!". +: passionate about poetry -: gets fired
Professor Snape
The most iconic teacher in the "Harry Potter" saga because of his ambiguity. Until the very end of this never-ending saga, we don't know if this man is good or evil. And in the end, well, he is the true hero of Harry Potter. +: he's badass -: well, actually no downsides, we tell you

M. Garrison
The teacher from the delightful South Park Elementary School clearly has a screw loose, and that's why we love him. A recurring and hilarious character in the series, he is regularly accompanied by his best friend Mr. Tuck, a dressed-up branch that he makes speak like a ventriloquist. In addition to his neurotic tendencies, we more or less understand throughout the episodes that he is also gay, zoophile, double transsexual, and suspected of latent pedophilia... +: very entertaining -: somewhat worrying
Mme Krapabelle
Initially hated by Bart Simpson, who sees her as a mere representative of school authority, their relationship will evolve until Bart helps her hide her love affair with her
.worst enemy, the main Skinner. The kind of woman we love to hate, but mostly hate to love. + : sexy - : not beautiful.See this post on Instagram
Walter White
Good old Bryan Cranston is quite a trickster. To deal with the cancer that's eating him alive, he doesn't find a better solution than opening a clandestine methamphetamine lab. So, he is forced to leave. His initial job, that of a physics and chemistry teacher (well, how else would he make his drug?) in an uneventful high school. + : the drug - : he changed Malcolm's father...
Yoda
Remember in recent episodes, especially episode 3 "Revenge of the Sith", Yoda teaches young Jedi the power of the Force. We could also mention the training he gives to Luke Skywalker on the planet Dagobah, skillfully and humorously turning him into one of the greatest Jedi in the galaxy. + : he is super strong - : he is small and green

Even though it's a short role with only two scenes, the character has managed to leave a lasting impression with iconic lines like "bring out your military letters" or "nothing dries faster than a tear," as Oscar Wilde once said. The most iconic scene in the movie is the one where a student finds a book written by the teacher himself, with the back cover summarizing it as "The trashy and gloomy journey of a young literature teacher in the underground gay scene in Brittany." +: He looks like Beigbeder -: He's annoying with his military letters
Bonus: Tom Berenger in The Substitute
A lesser-known film, but the editorial team had to mention this cult film in this top list. The plot is simple, effective, and tasteful. A former marine pretends to be a substitute teacher to combat crime in a high school.
Being a teacher to dismantle a drug trafficking in a high school, which we learn at the end, is managed by... the principal! It's a cult, we tell you! +: He's a teacher who teaches you how to kill -: He shoots you if you do drugs. Bonus 2: Professor Xavier Professor Xavier is the mega boss of the X-Men, even Wolverine doesn't fool around with him. Endowed with phenomenal mental powers, he basically teaches power mastery to his mutant students. +: He recruits his students through telepathy -: He gets around in a "X"-rimmed wheelchair.
