Feminine Surrealism? at the Musée de Montmartre

A major movement from the 1920s to 1970s, Surrealism was not just dominated by male artists. The exhibition Feminine Surrealism? at the Musée de Montmartre showcases nearly 150 transgressive artworks, exploring the themes of metamorphosis., nature, femininities, or even dreams.

From the right to vote to the right to emancipate themselves from the guardianship of their father or husband, the past hundred years have been synonymous with liberation for women. The latest exhibition at the Roger-Viollet Gallery pays tribute to these women, who are our mothers, grandmothers, and great-grandmothers, through over sixty contemporary prints.
