Vincent Van Gogh painted his last canvases in Auvers-sur-Oise. Fast forward 72 years, and a 17-year-old artist, Anselm Kiefer, is sent in his footsteps across France, Belgium, and the Netherlands, thanks to a scholarship. This sparked a passion in the German artist to make Van Gogh one of his absolute masters, drawing inspiration from his work for over 60 years. For the first time, the Royal Academy in London brings together the spectacular canvases of these two painting geniuses, in an exhibition that promises to be simply breathtaking.
