We know it now, artificial intelligences are everywhere. But some are more frightening than others. In this case, there’s a website that lets you find all the photos of you – or someone else – on the Internet with just one click... We hope you have nothing to hide!  

Thanks to certain sites like ChatGPT, Dall-E, and Midjourney, artificial intelligence is becoming more and more accessible to the general public and opens up a whole world of fun possibilities that were once unimaginable. And, as is always the case in life, there's a catch: with certain tools, there are also quite frightening ways to use AI... I've mentioned PimEyes! This is a site for reverse image search that uses facial recognition technology to find all the photos containing the faces of a given person that have already been published online.

If you upload a photo of the person you want to find, PimEyes will search the Internet far and wide to match that face with pictures scattered across the web. And while the system isn’t 100% perfect, it’s still very accurate in finding the individual you’re looking for… or their lookalikes.

Rowan Cheung, an AI expert, even describes PimEyes as the « most disturbing AI website on the Internet ».  He shared on Twitter that he was « shocked by the speed and accuracy » of the platform, adding that it was « super scary ».

But to get PimEyes, you really need to want it! Unlike free AI versions like ChatGPT, there’s a price to pay if you wish to use this technology, with payment plans ranging from 29.99€ to 299.99€ per month. 


A tool to protect your privacy ?

On its side, PimEyes claims to allow users to « recover their right to their image and monitor their online presence », and that it can be used to « defend against scammers, identity thieves, or those who use your image illegally ». Basically, the site presents itself as a versatile tool that lets you track your face on the Internet, recover image rights, and monitor your pr .

PimEyes also states in its terms of use that « if the data security unit reveals service abuse, such as harassment or violation of children's privacy rights, the account will be permanently banned without the right to a refund ».
