There is a website that allows you to find with just one click all the photos of yourself - or someone else - on the Internet... and it's super scary.

Thanks to certain websites such as ChatGPT, Dall-E, and Midjourney, artificial intelligence is becoming more and more accessible to the general public and opening up a whole world of previously unthinkable possibilities. However, there are also some quite scary ways to use AI with certain tools. Enter PimEyes! It is a reverse image search website that uses facial recognition technology to find all the photos containing the given person's face that have already been published on the Internet.

"The most disturbing website on the Internet"

If you upload a photo of the person you want to find, PimEyes will search the Internet thoroughly to match that face with the photos found online. And although the system is not 100% perfect, it is still very accurate in finding the individual you are looking for... or their look-alikes.

Rowan Cheung, an AI expert, even describes PimEyes as «the most disturbing AI website on the Internet ». He explained on Twitter that he was «shocked by the speed and precision of the platform, adding that it was «super scary .

But to get PimEyes, you really have to want it! Unlike free AI versions like ChatGPT, there is a price to pay if you want to use this technology, with payment plans ranging from €29.99 to €299.99 per month.


A tool to protect your privacy?

On its side, PimEyes claims to allow users to "reclaim their right to image and monitor their online presence", and that it can be used to "defend against scammers, identity thieves, or people who illegally use your image". In essence, the site presents itself as a versatile tool that allows you to track your face on the internet, reclaim image rights, and monitor your presence.

This online platform claims in its terms of use that if the data security unit reveals any abuse of service, such as harassment or violation of children's privacy rights, the account will be permanently banned without any refund. Now that you know what to expect, say cheese!
