The Editor

It’s a British tradition that we are delighted to see gaining popularity in France. The afternoon tea, popularized around 1840 in the English aristocracy, is now a must-do that has become so much more than just a snack, but a moment of relaxation and exchange. Imagine that the best afternoon tea in the world can be found in Paris! On Monday, June 16th, La Liste awarded this prestigious title to pastry chef Jessica Prealpato and her tea time at the San Régis hotel. And we can totally understand why!

An Exceptional Pastry Chef

She has been the pastry chef at the Plaza Athénée, was crowned "World's Best Pastry Chef" in 2019 by the World’s 50 Best Restaurants, named "Pastry Chef of the Year" by Gault & Millau, and is a knight of the national order of merit awarded by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty. In short, Jessica Prealpato is among the greatest in her field. And now, to her stellar journey, we can add the distinction of "Best afternoon tea in the world" from La Liste, for the delightful tea she created for the San Régis hotel.

A tea time that tickles your taste buds

What's on the menu? Of course, some traditional scones served in a trio – plain, licorice, elderflower – savoury buckwheat choux with Malabar black pepper, a tart featuring poached rhubarb in Ume plum vinegar, watercress, and sumac, a fresh strawberry salad, and even a chocolate cake paired with farm-fresh milk ice cream, cocoa nibs, and puxuri. Philippe Guichard, Maison Vermes, Nicolas Berger… the ingredients used are local and of high quality! We don’t know about you, but we're absolutely salivating!
