Summer kicks off with a bang in Val-d'Oise! This weekend, the town center of Deuil-la-Barre transforms into a true Portuguese city for the traditional Sardine Festival. Organized every year by the Cordas & Tradição Portuguese Association, this free event promises two days filled with delicious food, music, and good cheer. It’s an invitation to travel without even leaving Île-de-France!
Two days of celebration, flavors, and culture
The festivities kick off on Saturday, July 4th with the opening ceremony, featuring an exhibition showcasing Portuguese and French businesses. It’s a great chance to discover the expertise of both countries before diving into the celebrations. As night falls, the atmosphere heats up with a grand evening event focused on sharing. On the menu: the famous Porco no Espeto, a spit-roasted pig that f...Let your taste buds tingle, food lovers and culinary enthusiasts, with musical performances and concerts. Among the highlights, the audience will have the chance to applaud Paulo Ribeiro, a dancer and choreographer who has come all the way from Portugal, before continuing the evening with the lively beats of Banda Noca and Boate Azul.

On Sunday, get ready for a grand breakfast where Portuguese specialties will take the spotlight! And of course, the undisputed star will be the sardine, the queen of summer grilling and the ocean's delight! Throughout the day, groups of traditional and folk music will fill the downtown with lively tunes, including Johnny & Varzia, who will keep the energy up for visitors until the festivities wrap up around 8 PM!
