This weekend, Muslims around the world will begin a month of fasting for Ramadan. All details will be confirmed during the Night of Doubt – which will take place this year on the evening of February 28 – however, the Great Mosque of Paris and the French Council of Muslim Worship (CFCM) have already confirmed, based on astronomical calculations, that the start of Ramadan in France will indeed be this Saturday, March 1.

A month of spirituality and introspection is about to begin for all practitioners, but it also prepares for moments of sharing and fellowship at the end of the fasting day, where families and loved ones gather to break the fast and share a meal. On this occasion, the Moroccan coffee shop Maison Gazelle, located on Boulevard Saint-Germain, is unveiling an exceptional special ftoor menu.

The Delights of Morocco in Saint-Germain-des-Prés

Founded by Sara Boukhaled, the Maison Gazelle proudly highlights, as its name suggests, one of the treasures of Moroccan pastry: the gazelle horn. This is a tribute to Sara's origins and family, who craft this delightful treat in several flavors that filled her childhood with joy. The Maison offers signature flavors, including orange blossom, rose, lemon and cardamom, toasted sesame and almond, cocoa and bergamot, as well as Piedmont hazelnut. It also presents ephemeral flavors, like pistachio and fleur de sel, or dates and lime.

Beyond pastries, Maison Gazelle can be found since fall 2024 in the Saint-Germain district as a coffee shop, where you can enjoy typical Moroccan breakfasts and lunches, featuring famous khlii eggs (dried and preserved meat), perfectly golden msemens, croissants stuffed with amlou, wonderfully spiced chakchouka, or the comforting harira, a delightful soup made with tomatoes, lentils, and chickpeas. On the drink side, there’s a variety of flavored almond milks on the menu, with orange blossom, cinnamon, honey, sesame, and dates of course, as well as fresh orange juice and mint tea served at any time of the day.

A special Moroccan Ramadan menu

For the upcoming Ramadan period, Maison Gazelle wishes to offer Parisians... ·s a 100% Moroccan iftar experience, with an exceptional menu at €60 per person. What's on the menu? Harira to start, accompanied as in Morocco by a date and a chebabkia. Then, a fresh homemade juice, cumin eggs, a selection of homemade pastries, msemens, kefta briouates, baghrir (or pancakes with a thousand holes), sellou, gazelle horns, and of course, tea to wash it all down. In short, a real iftar like in Morocco, definitely one to book. Ramadan moubarak!
