We all dream of treating ourselves to a delightful evening someday at a gourmet restaurant in the capital. However, the truth is that prices can quickly sneak up and become exorbitant, requiring several months of saving. Luckily, there’s a hidden gem in Paris that’s absolutely exceptional. Head over to La Fontaine, the dining space of the École de Paris des métiers de la table (EPMT) — the first hotel school awarded the title of Maître Restaurateur — to enjoy a gourmet menu for the modest price of 24 €. We promise it’s true!

A gourmet restaurant run by students

If you didn’t know, you wouldn’t even notice the difference from one of the prestigious establishments in the capital. The only exception: at La Fontaine, the training restaurant of the Paris School of Culinary Arts, all the staff is in training. The EPMT trains cooks, pastry chefs, chocolatiers, caterers, servers, bartenders, and sommeliers. So, it’s students who serve you and are working in the kitchen. The goal? To practice in real conditions in a restaurant setting during full service. “You learn by doing, that’s what’s amazing,” says Guillaume Garnier, a trainee at George V, at the Parisien.

A full menu for under 30€

And what particularly attracts customers — both regulars and those discovering the place for the first time — is the price of the menus at this restaurant. So expect to pay a lovely 24 € for lunch (starter/main dish/cheese/dessert) at 12:30 PM, from Monday to Friday. The services last 2 hours each time, “to allow learners to absorb and integrate the valuable teachings shared by their instructors ,” the School states on its site. The EPMT occasionally offers dinners at 29 €. The menu changes daily and the dishes are homemade, made with fresh ingredients. Want to come and try it out?
