A few weeks ago, the best croissant in France was awarded. In just a few days, the election for the best pain au chocolat will take place. Between these two events, on Friday, October 24th, there was a national competition to find the best mille-feuille in France. And good news, among the 6 pastry chefs in the running, a Parisian address managed to shine, winning the trophy for best taste.
An award-winning address
To try and snatch the Grail, 6 artisan pastry chefs from all over France faced off, each presenting a reinterpretation of this great classic of French cuisine. Following a tasting jury…
acute;gustation that one might imagine as absolutely horrible, the jury — made up of Best Craftsmen of France and personalities from the culinary world — awarded 4 awards: the 1st prize, the prize for aesthetic, the prize for creation and the prize for taste.Voir cette publication sur Instagram
And it’s precisely this that has helped a Parisian pastry chef to stand out from the crowd. Indeed, it’s Mathieu Leveque, head pastry chef for the bakery La Parisienne, who has evidently created the tastiest dessert in France. A wonderfully well-deserved award, but not surprising for this establishment that has been racking up awards since the start of the year: best baguette in Paris 2025 and best pastry shop in Paris 2025.
The first prize not far from Paris
While this title only serves to confirm La Parisienne’s baking dominance, it also recognizes three other artisans, Nicolas Deloison and Matthieu Giustinati from the Grand Est region for their awards in creativity and aesthetics, along with Florian Grech, pastry chef at O Flo Gourmand, who takes home the 1st Prize, and so on.
the title of best mille-feuille in France across all categories. And good news, its shop isn’t that far from Paris, as it’s located in Chantilly, in Oise, which is just a little hour by TER away ! Lovers of deliciously crispy puff pastry and incredibly melting vanilla cream, you know what to do this weekend !Voir cette publication sur Instagram
