Carrot, beetroot, parsnip... Starting from March 7th, McDonald's is trading its iconic french fries for vegetable fries. It's almost like if the Big Mac suddenly disappeared, the famous potato wedges are bidding farewell to make room for vegetables. This test will last between 3 and 4 weeks so that the fast-food giant can assess consumers' enthusiasm for healthier and more veggie alternatives. Eloi de la Celle, McDonald's purchasing director, explains to our colleagues at Le Parisien: "It's been a long journey that we embarked on in August 2021 to reserve the lands of our 25 partner farmers. After planting in March last year, the harvest was done in October, before their transformation for the launch." And in the end, it's in Hauts-de-France that 3000 tons of vegetables were harvested to make you taste the vegetable fries, of which 3 varieties were selected. We tested twelve of them and kept three. We needed vegetables that were tough but low in water content, ones that resisted being cut".

A small step for man, a revolution for McDonald's!
