The Editor

This year, bakeries want to make you win some stuff. After the Liberté king cake that gives you a shopping voucher at Sèzane for all the shopping addicts, here comes the one that makes you win gold, literally. Three Parisian bakeries are on the menu. For four weeks, three Parisian bakeries take us on an unusual treasure hunt. The Maurice bakery in the 7th, B&S in the 12th, and La Baratte des Saveurs in the 16th offer you the opportunity to taste the king cake, but this time with a little twist. Don't worry, there won't be any alteration to the flavors. The traditional frangipane will delight the king cake purists. The twist is rather on the packaging, where you'll find a QR code to enter the prize draw that may (or may not) make you win some gold.

Golden Crown for Epiphany

The lucky person who is chosen will win much more than just a cardboard crown. The winning prize is none other than a 5-gram gold bullion with a purity of 99.9%, equivalent to around €330, as explained by Actu Paris. The concept comes straight from the 18th century, from a tradition that replaced the figurine with a gold or silver coin. It is now brought back to life thanks to the Comptoir National de l'Or, in collaboration with 26 bakeries across the country, to offer us this extraordinary cake. All that's left to do is to devour ours and cross our fingers. You have until January 29th!
