As we eagerly await to find out who will be crowned the champion of the best baguette or the most delicious butter croissant in Paris in 2024 (as the competitions draw near), we are thrilled to announce the names of the bakeries that shine in making scrumptious sandwiches. This exciting update comes from the first-ever Best Sandwich in Greater Paris Contest, which took place on March 14th.

It's the newest addition to the big family of culinary competitions dedicated to bakeries. Organized by the Syndicat des boulangers du Grand Paris, this showdown saw 34 candidates from all over the Paris region compete against each other. And one thing is for sure, for this first time, the Parisian artisans did not disappoint.


Paris strong in the top 10

Each bakery in the running had to present a meat sandwich, a fish one, and a vegetarian option, and each of them was smelled, touched, and tasted. A thorough examination, which allowed to judge the quality of the bread, but also of course the quality of the filling.

And although the capital is sadly not on the podium, as the winning bakeries are in Noisy-le-Grand, Saint-Mandé, and Châtillon, there are still 6 Parisian bakeries in the top 10, and honestly, we think that's not too bad at all.

So, in 4th place, we find Maison Carton Paris, in the 10th arrondissement, followed by Maison Thevenin (6th), Boulangerie Graine (11th), and Victoire Boulangerie (9th), occupying the 5th, 6th, and 7th spots in this ranking, respectively. Finally, the 9th place is awarded to Maison Bretteau (7th) and the 10th to Boulangerie Bon & Bo (2nd).

There you have it, now you have plenty of choices to go and buy a quality sandwich on your lunch break. And if you're feeling indulgent, we also recommend enjoying a delicious butter croissant from Maison Carton, voted best croissant in Greater Paris in 2022.
