On February 20th, Jean-François Giroli, a 73-year-old former director, was elected world pizza champion. The victory definitely came as a surprise at the Pizza Senza Frontiere-World Pizza Champion Games.

Another pizza competition took place in Rimini, Italy, to determine the best pizza in the world. This time, the title went to Frenchman Jean-François Giroli, who claimed victory despite his initial intentions of simply being a tourist. 🍕🏆 #PizzaChampion #ItalyTrip #PizzaCompetition

Gourmet Pizzas

For Jean-François, at first, pizza was a hobby, a way to keep busy now that he is retired, while developing his passion for Italian cuisine. But things might change a bit now, since the pizza maker has just won the ultimate distinction: world champion of pizza. An award he achieved among 650 candidates, including many Italians.

Bravo! And at the same time, it must be said that in his restaurant La Cucina di Gianfranco, located next to Bordeaux, our pizza boss offers "gourmet" versions of this dish, made only with good products directly from Italy (but without raising prices too much, as you have to. Around 15€ per pizza. So, even though he was a tourist, he still had a little level. 🍕🌞See this post on Instagram Since his victory in the "classica" category, thanks to a pizza with prunes and hazelnuts, Jean-François has been flooded with orders, and is doubling his ambition. Because he has decided, next year, he will go back, to win the title in the Pizza/ cocktails with his son who is a bartender. What a beautiful project, isn't it?
