We know it, man is a creature of habit, often returning again and again to the same restaurants during his lunch break, grabbing the same sandwich paired with the same drink. But guess what? We’re excited to shake things up by introducing you to the best spots in Paris. This week, we're heading over to Holy Burek, located in the 9th arrondissement. It's a fresh concept that comes straight from Croatia.

An Age-Old Tradition

When he decided to bring the burek back to life, a snack specialty that has kind of faded away, Sedi, the founder of Holy Burek, turned to the best cooks in the world: grandmothers. Throughout the Balkans,...

He talks to them, observes them, questions them, to bring back the best recipe to his kitchens in Dubrovnik : an ultra-thin dough, entirely stretched by hand on the table until it’s almost transparent, filled with meat, spinach, or cheese, before being carefully rolled up and baked to a golden finish. And after 6 years delighting the taste buds of Croatia, Dubai, and Miami, he finally settles in Paris, to our great pleasure !

Gluttony at its Purest

On-site, you can find rolls about forty centimeters long, which you can enjoy right here or take away. 5 delicious recipes await you: chicken, veal, spinach, cheese, or our absolute favorite, and by far, potatoes. While waiting for your order, you can watch the chefs behind the counter skillfully stretch the dough, and let yourself be carried away by the warm, buttery aromas coming from the oven. You’ll enjoy everything with your fingers, and don’t forget to grab a little napkin because yes, there’s grease involved. But that’s not a bad thing! The cherry on top is that it’s an extremely affordable option, as you’ll pay between 4.5 and 8€ per burek depending on the recipe, and honestly, one is definitely enough to fill you up. And of course, let’s not forget the v.sweet versions, with chocolate or cinnamon, that are simply to die for.
