At this end of Ramadan – which took place on March 19 – it's time for solidarity in some lovely kitchens in Paris. One such place is the Café Jaune, nestled in Saint-Ouen, which is hosting a grand solidarity banquet for Aid this Friday, March 27. The idea? To offer a meaningful celebration, benefiting the Utopia56 association.
A High-Flying Solidarity Banquet
Who’s behind this feast? Hana Decès, an independent chef of Tunisian origin (behind Famū), and Alcidia Vulbeau, chef of the restaurants Bonne Aventure and Café Jaune. Together, they have created a solidarity menu to celebrate the end of Ramadan, aiming to create a true festive sharing experience around a delicious warm meal with music. On the menu, you'll find a brick pastry with egg and homemade harissa to start, followed by roasted free-range chicken with spices, djerbian rice with vegetables, and a lovely seasonal salad (with of course veggie and vegan options). When it comes to desserts, there's no holding back!
Enjoy a mouhalabieh with sweet and blood orange, topped with almond nougatine and orange blossom syrup, alongside an ultra-indulgent chocolate mousse with a cocoa crumble. And for your thirst: mint tea, filter coffee, homemade lemonade, and rose and jasmine iced tea.
A Dinner That Brings Us Together
Like any solidarity banquet, some of the guests will pay for their place online (at the price of €37), while others will be invited by the association Utopia56, a reference in Paris that helps people in situations of exile and extreme vulnerability. For every meal reserved, a meal is offered to a single mother with her children or an unaccompanied minor. It's a wonderful moment of communion, sharing a friendly and delicious meal with those who can no longer enjoy the luxury of celebration, lightness, and the joy of a festive dinner. The cherry on top? All the profits from the evening will be donated to Utopia56, and there will also be a donation area set up so everyone can drop off essential goods for the association's beneficiaries.
