Last July 14th, in Singapore, chef Benoît Castel was awarded the ultimate prize: the title of best pastry chef on the planet. Nothing less. And to celebrate that (or almost, let's just say the timing worked out perfectly), he decided to let us taste the fruits of his labor — quite exceptional, I might add — within a brand new spot. A place full of wonders that should open its doors next fall.
A delicious new address right in the heart of Paris
After two locations in the 20th (both in the Ménilmontant neighborhood), and a spot on rue Jean-Pierre Timbaud, Benoît Castel is settling a bit further into the 11th, choosing
at 6, rue Paul-Bert for his new project. A street that's already more than satisfying for our taste buds, since it's home to a number of institutions, including the Cyril Lignac pastry shop, a Breizh Café location, and the famous Paul Bert bistrot, run by Bertrand Auboyneau. But hold on, this time there's no question of repeating the rather classic bakery-pastry shop model that he's already rolled out at his other locations (and it works really well, mind you, don't get us wrong!).Voir cette publication sur Instagram
An innovative concept
Indeed, while the chef will certainly sell bread, pastries and baked goods here, he has no intention of stopping there and aims to turn this new address into a true neighborhood hub. From 7:30 AM to 8 PM, every day, he'll offer in turn "a specialty coffee to start the day, a dining experience centered on seasonal cuisine for lunch and a bakery-pastry shop for afternoon indulgences", as his communications agency told Actu Paris. The goal is simple: go beyond the artisan stage — quite honorable, mind you — to achieve
bed and breakfast. Mark your calendars for mid-September — assuming there are no delays — to discover this exciting new spot !View this post on Instagram
