This is the newest addition to the big family of culinary competitions dedicated to bakeries. Established by the Syndicat des boulangers du Grand Paris last year, this incredibly delicious contest aims to help us find the best spots to stop for a quality quick lunch. And for this second edition, 37 candidates from all over the Paris region competed against each other until only one remained. One thing is for sure, even if the first place isn't in the capital, Parisian artisans didn't fall short, with 6 addresses in the top 10.
An incredible sandwich just a metro ride away
For this second edition, let's give a big round of applause to Anibal & Sophie Lopes from La Renaissance bakery in Châtillon, who managed to climb from 3rd to 1st place in just one year.
A very beautiful evolution that they managed to achieve thanks to the regulatory presentation of 9 individual sandwiches, including 3 identical meat sandwiches, 3 identical fish sandwiches, and finally 3 vegetarian, also identical. Each of these pieces was touched and then tasted to judge the quality of the bread and the fillings, in order to select the best of the best, and clearly, these unique creations stood out. The good news for us, poor inhabitants of the capital, is that there’s no need to worry, since the bakery is directly accessible on the line 13 of the metro. Because after all, a sandwich of such quality is truly deserved.
Paris in pole position in the top 10
And for those for whom taking the 13 is really too much of a challenge, no worries, according to the rankings of the contest. The capital has a number of bakeries that are definitely worth a visit, as 6 addresses from the top 10 are located in the streets of Paris. The good news, given their spread, is that you are sure to find one close to your home, your workplace, your grandmother's apartment, or your best friend's place.
Among the winners, we have 2nd, 3rd, and 4th places going to Laurent Bergeron from the Boulangerie du Champs de Mars in the 7th, Maxime Taranne from Boulangerie Alexine Faubourg Saint-Denis (10th) and Tharshan Selvarajah at Pain de Tharshan in the 20th.
