It’s on the famous Faubourg-Poissonnière street, well-known for its thousand and one friendly restaurants, specifically at number 12, that you’ll find the new champion, which is the bakery La Parisienne. A wonderful news for everyone who walks this street every day to get to work, to a bar, or to the Grand Rex, as they will now have a new spot to buy their daily bread!
Many selection criteria
This Thursday, March 27, after long hours of a tasting session that we can only imagine was quite challenging, due to the lack of salted butter to enhance their tart...Ines, the jury members presided over by Nicolas Bonnet Oulaldj, the deputy mayor in charge of craftsmanship, have delivered their verdict. And this year, it’s artisan Mickaël Reydellet who has been named the grand master of the baguette, or in other words, our God for all. And we extend our warmest congratulations to him, as the battle must not have been easy.

Indeed, each tradition, which had to weigh between 250 and 270 g and measure between 50 and 55 cm very precisely, and meet a strict threshold of 1.4 g of salt/100 g exactly, was scrutinized from every angle by the experts. Taste, cooking, crumb, airiness, and overall appearance—nothing was left to chance to ensure they would select the best, and only the best. And it’s thus La Parisienne, aptly named to become the best baguette in Paris, that managed to outshine its 186 competitors.
Let’s also congratulate the other winners, notably Aux Délices du Palais in the 14th, Boulangerie Guyot Ferreira in the 5th, Aux Délices de Glaciére (13th), and Petite Alsacienne,!
The institution from the 14th, who fought valiantly, has still managed to snag the other spots in the top 5, thus bringing honor to the Left Bank. We can only encourage them to keep up their momentum in hopes of reaching the Holy Grail next year.
One way ticket to the Élysée
Not only did they earn our recognition across the board, gaining quite a reputation in the bakery scene, and the pretty sum of €4,000, but the ultimate recognition for the bakery La Parisienne remains the privilege of becoming, for 1 year, the official supplier of traditional baguettes for the Élysée! An honor, and above all, a privilege that allows for showcasing each year one of the representatives of Parisian know-how and craftsmanship.

Yes indeed, if you’re used to buying your warm baguette over there every day, you can now say that you'll be eating the same bread as Mbappé the next time he’s invited by Macron to discuss the results of OM in the Europa League. In the meantime, La Parisienne and its lucky owner Mickaël will officially be crowned by Anne Hidalgo herself on May 7th in front of Notre-Dame during the Fête du Pain (which should actually become our new national holiday).
