Our buddies at Preply recently did a survey with over 1,500 peeps in the big cities of France to find out why they love the capital, what makes them stay there, or what attracts them to discover other places. Le Bonbon checked out the results and is here to spill the tea on what's influencing this important decision. So, why choose the region? Well, according to those surveyed, living in the region has that certain je ne sais quoi. The top reason (61%) is the quality of life, which brings a peaceful atmosphere and a high standard of living. Following closely behind is the cost of living (58%): Paris still remains one of the most expensive cities in the world. For half of the participants, the regions also offer access to nature and a more pleasant climate. Family life (47%) takes the third spot, with the idea of raising children away from the hustle and bustle of Parisian life sounding quite appealing. And let's not forget leisure activities (22%) – because the region offers much more than just countryside, there's plenty to explore and enjoy. 🎉🌈 #InstaFun #JoyfulVibes

However, it's not all roses. Accessibility is a problem for 17% of respondents, as living in the regions often means being dependent on a car. Employment opportunities only attract 16% of respondents, an aspect where Paris still has the upper hand.

Paris, always attractive

Ah, Paris! The capital still attracts so much. It is crowded, despite its drawbacks. The first reason? Culture (27%). With its 206 museums, concerts, and festivals, Paris delights our minds. Those who were surveyed are craving culture, with a whopping crowd at 29%. Employment opportunities come in second at 23%. Paris is the place to be, where big companies set up shop and possibilities abound. Fun activities come in closely behind at 22%, along with the multicultural vibe at 19%. Paris is truly a melting pot where professionals, creatives, and adventurers come together. Basic necessities attract 18% of respondents, while Parisian cuisine is a hit with 15%. Surprisingly, only 12% see Paris as the perfect place for family life. Quality of life and purchasing power are only at 11% and 9% respectively, which is understandable in one of the priciest cities in the world.
