Last November, Anne Hidalgo announced her official decision not to participate in the 2026 elections. Since then, the race for her successor has certainly begun. And it’s safe to say that the various candidates have plenty of great ideas to win over voters. Among the contenders, environmentalist Anne-Claire Boux is loudly championing a project that could make some people happy: introducing a special RSA dedicated to youth.
Revitalizing Youth at All Costs
Among the key points that the candidate intends to defend if she were to represent the environmentalists or, even better, settle into the Hôtel de Ville: the living conditions of young Parisians.
To tackle the increasing departures of residents from the capital due to the cost of living, Anne-Claire Boux plans to implement a system of RSA for those under 25, amounting to 400€ per month. This project was already mentioned in 2021 by the government, but it never came to fruition. To roll out this measure, she envisions a gradual deployment, initially targeting the 15,000 most vulnerable young people in Paris, with a total budget of 70 million euros for the operation. This is fantastic news considering that 25% of young people in Paris are in precarious situations.Voir cette publication sur Instagram
Health, that's the real deal!
In the same spirit, she aims to make everyday life easier for all Parisians by setting up a communal health insurance for the city of Paris, in response to the drastic increase in insurance rates over the past few years (between 6 and 8%). It's a way for her to ensure that the residents of the City of Light stop giving up on seeking care due to long waiting times or excessive fees – an issue she has already fought hard against as a deputy, by creating over 7,000 additional consultations in health centers – or finding insurance that works better.

Making Paris the First Eco-City in France
To improve our quality of life, the eco-candidate is clearly focused on a more planet-friendly policy, too. The goal is simple: to make Paris a viable city for future generations, no matter what their life plans are. To achieve this, she's set on leading a radical ecological transformation that is also accessible to everyone. This approach involves health and living standards, as well as education, and mental and physical well-being, along with affordable housing… It's quite the lovely program, and we’re sure it will attract some people!
