To establish this ranking, Le Parisien relied on crime data provided by the Ministry of the Interior, taking into account a variety of criteria such as burglaries, thefts, and assaults. The newspaper explains these results by the high number of unarmed thefts (including pickpocketing) recorded in the capital city of Paris. Other cities like Marseille and Lyon also have a high number of vehicle thefts.
And elsewhere?
In the Île-de-France region, the city of Boulogne-Billancourt (92) tops the regional ranking, shining at the 2nd position nationally. Many other cities in the Île-de-France region follow closely behind: Courbevoie (4th), Versailles (5th), Antony (6th), Clamart (7th), Levallois-Perret (8th), Maisons-Alfort (9th), Asnières-sur-Seine (11th), Issy-les-Moulineaux (12th), Clichy (13th), Saint-Maur-des-Fossés (16th), Neuilly-sur-Seine (17th). Or Sartrouville (20th). Cities "little affected by the vast majority of crimes recorded": voluntary assaults, violent thefts without weapons or thefts in vehicles, but on the other hand, "relatively exposed to burglaries" as explained by Le Parisien. But Paris is not alone in this descent into ins.Look at all these fun facts about the safety rankings of different cities in France! Even though Paris is at the top, some of its neighbors like Saint-Denis, Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine, and Bondy are not too far behind. And did you know that Cherbourg-en-Cotentin is leading the pack nationally? Meanwhile, Avignon, Roubaix, and Lille are at the bottom of the list. Isn't it interesting to see how different cities stack up in terms of security?
