Track renewal, upgraded electrical systems, new trains… There are simply countless reasons justifying a metro shutdown. But no matter the reason, one thing's for sure, it's never a joy when it comes to heading home after a little drink with colleagues or taking the metro on a Sunday for a fun visit to the museum with friends. Unfortunately, the last week of February (also known as the month that flies by in a blink) isn’t looking too rosy, as closures have been announced on a number of metro or RER lines.

Three metro lines in the spotlight

On the metro front, even though we have to brace for a few little hiccups, we’re delighted to let you know that the week will be relatively calm, with only 3 lines partially closed. And among these three, we include the Line 14, which has been experiencing unexpected closures for so long that we’re not sure we can still consider them disruptions, but rather as the normal schedule of the line. It will be closed on Tuesday starting at 10 PM between Maison Blanche and Saint-Denis – Pleyel, and on Wednesday starting at 10 PM as well for the entire line. Just another routine day…

Nope, this week we’re focusing first on the navy blue line, aka line 2, and the mint green line, also known as line 6. On the first one, service will be interrupted from Wednesday, February 26 to Sunday, March 2 inclusive between the stations Nation and Père-Lachaise, for various works. These two stations are about 20 minutes on foot, so no big, big issues here, either. On line 6, it’s the same story between Charles-de-Gaulle – Étoile and La Motte-Picquet – Grenelle. The closure of these stations should last all week, until Friday the 28th. In both cases, replacement buses will obviously be provided.

RER Lines to Avoid Urgently

When it comes to the RER, it’s a completely different story, as 4 out of the 5 lines shared by RATP and the other operators have...

SNCF is having a tough week (yes, we love acronyms at Bonbon). On the RER B, from Tuesday, the 25th to Friday, the 28th, starting at 10:45 PM, service will be completely interrupted between Gare du Nord and Charles de Gaulle Airport 2 – TGV / Mitry – Claye.

On the RER C, hold on tight, it might get tricky to follow, as service will be interrupted every evening this week (except on the weekends, of course) starting at 11 PM between Av. Henri Martin and Montigny Beauchamp / Pontoise, between Paris Austerlitz and Pont de Rungis, and between Paris Austerlitz and Juvisy via Choisy-le-Roi. Also, starting at 11:30 PM from Javel to Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, between Versailles Château Rive Gauche and Javel, and between Paris Austerlitz and Dourdan / Saint-Martin d’Étampes. This last segment will also be closed on Sunday, March 2nd, starting at the same time.

We're settling things down a bit with the RER D, closed until Friday starting at 11:20 PM between Paris Gare du Nord and Creil. Well, that's alright.

Unfortunately, it won't last long because we wrap up with the RER E, and once again, we must warn you, it’s a bit chaotic. Until Friday starting at 10:25 PM, traffic will be interrupted between Nanterre – La Folie and Villiers-sur-Marne – Le Plessis-Trévise / Tournan. On the same section, the same situation applies this weekend, but this time starting at 10:15 PM. We’ll also have the section between Nanterre-La-Folie and Chelles – Gournay closed from Monday to Friday starting at 10 PM. The same applies for the weekend, “only” from 10:30 PM. Traffic won’t resume until 7 AM on Sunday morning in this area. We wish you all plenty of courage!
