Paris is filled with real institutions, whether they're historical, gastronomic, or even cultural. Among them is JM Vidéo, one of the last video clubs in the capital, located on Parmentier Avenue in the 11th. It's a legendary place that has been around for over 40 years and has established itself as a cornerstone of Parisian cinema. However, this shop is now facing the threat of having to close its doors. To try to survive, a crowdfunding campaign has been launched and has already found great success!

Over 50,000 titles in this store!
A cozy 50 m² shop filled with hundreds of DVDs—more than 50,000 titles according to the store's website—available for purchase or rental… JM Vidéo is a must-visit shop in Paris. In recent years, it has gained visibility with the TV show Video Club from Konbini, which has been running since 2018, where film personalities are invited: we’ve even spotted Christopher Nolan and Pierre Niney there! “It's paradoxical: JM Vidéo has never been so visible and appreciated [...] yet at the same time, the economic difficulties have never been greater,” laments Théo Brancilho.n, manager of the shop, to France Bleu.

Over €25,000 Raised
The rise of streaming, the tendency for illegal downloading, and declining attendance… There are many reasons explaining the challenges faced by JM Vidéo. However, seeing the store close its doors would mean losing another institution of the 7th Art in Paris — many iconic cinemas have also had to take their bows in recent months. To try to save itself, a fundraising campaign was launched on September 5th with a goal of raising €35,000. By September 19, 2025, over €25,900 had been collected through more than 1,000 contributions. This clearly shows that cinephiles, Parisians, and indeed all French people care deeply!s·es, don't want to see JM Vidéo disappear.
