The end of year festivities have passed, January has arrived, and now all that remains is a wonderfully decorated Christmas tree gracing your living room. It's beautiful and adds that touch of magic you love in your interior, but let's be honest, it's time to put away the ornaments and garlands before bringing them out again next December. If you opted for a natural tree rather than an artificial one, you were probably drawn to its authentic appearance and sweet scent. But unlike its plastic counterpart, you unfortunately can't just fold it up and store it in a closet. Don't worry though, there are plenty of collection points available in Paris from December 26th until January 20th.176 collection points in the capital

You may not have known there were so many, but wherever you live in the capital, you will definitely have a collection point among the 176 available nearby. Some are even open 24 hours a day. The City of Paris has created a map that lists them all, allowing you to find the nearest one no matter the district. Last year, 114,247 trees were collected.

If you want to extend the festive season and get rid of your tree after January 20th, you will be able to.Take it out with your household garbage bin. You'll need to cut it in half if it exceeds 2.5 meters.

What happens next?

Once collected, the Christmas trees are shredded to obtain pine mulch. This natural weedkiller is then used on the soil of green spaces in the capital to prevent any weed proliferation.

In coastal cities, Christmas trees are also collected to be deposited on beaches in order to create a vegetal wall to retain the sand in the dunes.
