« Is this the Highway Code? »
These two compilations were created as part of a road safety campaign to highlight the most common infractions committed by cyclists, and the often flimsy excuses they use to try to get out of trouble. And it must be said, they do not lack imagination.
From those who suddenly become unable to string two words together, to those who get lost in stories that make no sense, and to those who boldly try to pull a fast one, it's quite entertaining. For example, there's the one who, with incredible audacity, simply asks: « Is this the Paris rules of the road? »
Are you one of those who never read the Highway Code? Or someone who is surprised to be fined for wearing headphones, because, you see, he lives in Copenhagen, and over there, it's allowed, you know... Sometimes, a little honesty is still better.@prefpolice Pour rouler en musique deux solutions s’offrent à vous, un casque connecté extra auriculaires ou alors chantez. Common Traffic Offenses
In videos, most users are caught for running a red light, wearing headphones, and using a phone. And even though some plead innocence, swearing they didn't know, they weren't aware of these rules, we still think they are pushing the limits a bit too far.
We must admit, a vast majority of Parisian cyclists have already committed these offenses, and it is difficult today to claim not to know when cycling is becoming increasingly popular, and therefore more and more publicized. Let's not forget that each of these violations can cost you between €90 and €135 in fines. And no need to claim not to have an ID, p.If you can't get out of it, it's off to the police station for a minimum of 4 hours of checking. Not sure it's worth it.
